Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I prefer the books because I like creating the image in my head and building from that image. There are so many details that are present in the books that have to be changed or left out in the movies. The movies are nice in that they really expand what you already have in your imagination. But I separate them from the books because I think I would go crazy if I expected every detail to be copied into the movies.

The books are much better than the movies. The movies can't even be compared to the books. So many more details and descriptions that let you see more than the movies ever could.

I like the books but I think if it wasn't for the films I wouldn't have read the books as I got into them when the first film came out and there was a lot of press coverage at the time.

Yes you can imagine what is going to happen and you can also dissect a lot of things from the books too.

The books. I like the films but nothing can compare to the books. It is very rare for me to prefer a film adapation of a book over the book itself.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

although i do like the films because they give you a picture in your head when you read the books...if the movies werent there everyone will have their own view of what things look like. i think the movies help you to imagine what the characters and the places and things look like.

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?

i loved the time turner bit in PoA it was great to see it brought to life and i liked the little bits that were added like hermione throwing stones in the window and we dodnt know what it was before but we find out later. and i liked the bit where hermione says "is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" and then the past hermione says "i thought i just saw..." i thought that was excellent because even if you had read the books you still might not realise what it was that she saw.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

All the books i've read and not only HP books but others too, i was very disappointed when i saw the films. I didn't like the first time i saw SS, maybe because i had imagine lot of pictures differently. Also i don't like the films because they cut many scenes and i understand that it can't get into 2 hours the whole book. Well, by now, and after of many times watching HPs films, i'm almost used to this.
I prefer reading books because i leave myself to travel into the adventures of Harry. I let my self to imagine. I really like this feeling, like i'm in the book.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I, like so many of you guys and girls, perfer the books to the movies.
The books have so much more detail, that if you only watch the movies, you miss out on so much. I underdstand that the movies have a time limit understandably. I'm not sure how well the movies would go over if it was more than or close to three hours long.
But I love details because they answer so much and sometimes give us more questions to ponder.

Same with me. It was the PoA film that got me into the books in the first place…But I do still prefer the books over the films.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

The books no question. I started reading Harry Potter because of the previews for the 1st movie, but there is actually no competition. I like the actors in the movies because in my head when I read I associate them with the actual characters and they fit well.

I prefer the books. The movies are fun to watch but the books have so many more details and storylines. The movie directors can only fit so much into the movies.
