Although they are not perfect matches, perhaps this subject should be discussed in one of these threads: Where do the characters live 19 years later? and What do you think happened to Grimmauld Place?.

Personally, I imagine that he would live at Grimmauld Place after having a period of de-stress probably at the Burrow with the Weasleys.

I'll take a look at the other threads, but have a question -- how could one possibly live happily at Grimmauld? It seems designed specifically for a negative energy. Plus, Sirius hated the house.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.20

My thoughs on the whole Grimmauld Place thing are simple. Harry has enough money to not live at Grimmauld Place, so to live at Grimmauld Place would be to choose there over somewhere else. Would Harry really want to live there that badly, what with the portrait of Mrs Black, the constant memories of Sirius' last moments (many of them miserable) etc. etc. I just don't buy that Harry wouldn't rather live somewhere else.

I always wondered why they just didn't use a Muffliato charm on old Mrs. Black.

I think because that charm just keeps others from hearing you. But, yeah, why not a Silencing charm or something?

Mufflitato was one of the Prince's spells that he invented. Nobody else besides Snape and those who read his book like the trio would know.

Oh and I'm a Hufflepuff in a Slytherin world as well! Begins to rub off a bit after a while.

If they were really that desperate, could they not just knock down the entire wall? Build a new one in its place?

Snape invented Levicorpus also, but it seems everyone at Hogwarts used it.

Haha! That would have done it! So Harry and Ginny have that option.

Given Dumbledore access to that portrait so he could annoy her?

I think the spells like Levicorpus got around a bit more because if Snape used it, and he clearly did, then people would see it and know the spell. But what do you mean by everyone at Hogwarts?

It was nonverbal. Someone would have to relay the incantation.

HBP: A Very Frosty Christmas“It’s nothing to do with me!” said Harry indignantly. “The Half-Blood Prince is someone who used to go to Hogwarts, I’ve got his old Potions book. He wrote spells all over it, spells he invented. One of them was Levicorpus —”

“Oh, that one had a great vogue during my time at Hogwarts,” said Lupin reminiscently. “There were a few months in my fifth year when you couldn’t move for being hoisted into the air by your ankle.”

It wasn't always non-verbal, though that is certainly Snape's recommendation. I wonder if he wrote 'non-verbal' as a note to himself after others at the school started using (stealing) it.

Seems to me that Snape believes he invented it, and that it spread from him, either way. After picking it up from Snape's book, Harry then taught in DA class, so it would have spread even more from there. I wonder if Snape had his potions book stolen in his own time.

Harry taught the DA before finding Snape's book.

Levicorpus wasn't amongst the spells taught in the D.A.

Oops. My mistake. Luna does know of it in OotP, though, so I guess that it was widely known from Snape's time at Hogwarts and on.

I don't recall an instance where it was verbal. Share?

It would be interesting to find out JKR's backstory on how the spell spread throughout Hogwarts; particularly if it was nonverbal from the beginning.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.20

I think that's a film thing; Luna used it in the Department of Mysteries in the film version of Order of the Phoenix. I don't recall it being used verbally in the books.

It might have been. Or it might have been something he shared with Lily and she shared it with others. Either case seems feasible to me.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.20

We know Snape had an Advanced Potion Making book when he was in Hogwarts. If it was his, why did it end up in the potions cabinet? did he leave it behind when he left Hogwarts, or did he bring it back and just tossed it into a cabinet?
