Just a guess, but they might open the new spells once we get The Dueling Club chapter. But sooner would be nice.

Re: Pottermore v.11

Hmm, I can read chapters one and two, but it won't let me into three or four. Also, no interactive stuff appears to be working. I was able to collect the things in the first two chapters, but there were no sounds and nothing moving, nor could I move. Is this a computer issue, an internet explorer issue, or just with me specifically???

Not that I have any proper explanation, but I can confirm that I did have some issues with the first chapter, too, where I couldn't really interact with stuff. For some reason, a day later everything worked without a problem, so there might be glitch - and perhaps some restart, cache cleaning etc. might do the trick.

owlycherries downloaded Google Chrome and that seemed to clear up those types of problems.

Re: Pottermore v.11

Pottermore is very beautiful and well-executed, and I love some of the little extra information we're getting through revealing secrets in the site. I do kinda wish some of the interactive systems were a little..mm.. easier? Smoother? For some reason the Potions window in my browser never includes the bottom, where you control the cauldron, and so I can't brew potions

Not to mention I'm helpless at spellcasting.

Other than that, it's really cool to have a site like this for HP fans.

Have you updated your Flash, cleared your Flash cache, or tried a different browser? The cauldron controls should appear if there's not a problem with your configuration.

Nice work! My best is about 13.7m. I've done it a couple of times and it always turns out the same. I get 4 over, and only one gets past the stump. I'll improve.

About the four chapters that were released, the fact that they still have me coming back to either play the little games, or to possibly look for any item that I've missed is a plus. It seems to me that Pottermore is listening to the fans feedback for making it more interactive and return worthy. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the chapters.

Wonderful signature and photo BTW. John Drake, er, Number Six for the win.

Tried clearing my caches/updating, didn't seem to make a difference. Might be some kind of strange setting in my IE that affects the Flash. I'll check and see if a different browser works.

Ah. You're using IE? That's definitely the problem. I used IE at first and found that I had absolutely no sound or zooming abilities in CoS. I updated to Firefox, and right away they said I needed to update my flash player if I wanted to use the other media on Pottermore. I've talked to some other people, and they've had the same problems with IE, but were fixed with a new Internet browser.

Re: Pottermore v.11

I'm so sorry because this has probably been asked a dozen times, but does anyone have any clue what the one portal on the top far left of the home screen is for? The one still locked?

No one knows. Most of us assumed it would open when the ebooks, etc., went on sale, but obviously we were wrong.

I'd like to think that it will be Hogsmeade. But, like snapes_witch said, no one knows.

I have heard that it previously was a link to the Pottermore shop where the digital books could be purchased.

A screenshot from when Pottermore was first announced showed this, but the 'button' has never had any use since Pottermore opened.

I think it will be Hogsmeade too. If it was for the e-books, surely it would be revealed by now.

Wow well done! My best individual length is 14m, but my best session is 7gnomes/5stumped/12.45m

Hehehe. Does anyone else get a little giggle when their gnome lands in a particularly undignified position, or gets face planted into the hedge/stump. Cos I do

Re: Pottermore v.11

I finally made it to Chapter 4 last night. I got my first two gnomes over the stump with a high score of 12.721 without even knowing what I was doing. The other two landed in the yard. One hit its head on the fence, which was rather funny.

I solved the envelope thing by reading the book and then using a process of elimination.

I completely missed the pin that is supposed to unlock the padlock on the closet. How do people figure out this stuff?

The information about the Malfoys was really interesting. I looked up the town of Wiltshire and found this interesting:
Wiltshire, England
The town acquired its name from the river on which it stands, the Wylye, which itself is derived from a Celtic word meaning tricky, a reference to its habit of unpredictable flooding. -from Genealogy and Wiltshire, England

I thought it was very clever of JK Rowling to use a town that derived its name from a "tricky" river. Either it was a lucky coincidence or she is very thorough in her research.

I'm using IE and have had no problems with sound or zooming. I haven't been tempted to try Firefox yet.

That's fascinating! I would love to know whether it was coincidence or thorough research.

Btw--glad to see your previous avatar back! I always liked that one best.

I would guess it was research. Tricky river? Heck, Slytherin's element is water and Malfoys were Slytherin, right?
