Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
Honestly? No, I cant say that there is. The books allow you to see things the way you want to, and no amount of special effects or graphics can change that.

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
The only thing that comes to my mind is the door to the Chamber of Secrets was really cool in the movie. Of course, the book version doesn't appear that bad in my mind, so I guess I can't count that. So, for everything, I'll have to stick with the books and where they take my imagination.

I love them equally the same cause they can't do everything, but they try there best, so I love everything in both perspectives.

I liked the added dance scene in GoF, but it bugs me that they added a scene that wasn't in the book. But they left so many important details from the book out.

Yeah, I liked the extended "Lupin reminisces about Harry's parents" scene in PoA, that was cool. Oh, and you can't beat the "'Shall we move a bit closer?' 'WHA?!'" scene, either, hehe.

I guess I liked how the dementor was made in the movie. It was good, though I'm not sure that it's necessarily better than in the book.

Yeah.
The Marauders Map, the dementors, the Death Eaters, some parts of the Yule Ball, the Chamber of Secrets scene and the "Do you want to move a bit closer?" "What?!" scene xD

Oh yeah, the MM scene in the bathtub was probably my favorite added scene. It was hillarious.

The first triwizard task in GoF is the scene which stands out most to me.

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
Well, I find some of the humour is better than in the books, however, Jo has been improving that - especially with the last two books. But I still find that the moviemakers have a lot more freedom with what humour they can and can't put into their 'art' (call it what you will) because they have actors playing it out; sometimes it is easier to show things like that on screen, like people being sarcastic, for example. But if you have to write it down in words, I always find it becomes a little harder as there's a lot more explanation involved, and the reader doesn't always have the same image in their head as the author.

Quidditch is awesome in the films. I just wish it were a real game!

How could I forget AR? Snape in the books is a greasy-haired git and in the films he is Alan Rickman. OMG

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
I think I also liked the characterization of Dudley and his parents in the books. You didn't see much of them in the films. I really wish that the films would be reissued with all of the cut scenes inserted where they belong for all of us die hard HP fans.
All in all I just don't think the films are as good as the books, but I love to see how they are made to come alive on screen. They just leave out everything important to the plots and concentrate on the kids.

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
The time-turner scene at the end of film 3...i really enjoyed it! more than i did in the book, actually, it just seemed to make more sense! lol!
![]() that's pretty much it though, as although i may like some added scens, (e.g. ron/harry being hit bu snape in the study room GoF) if that means taking away time for the original plot then ![]() Oh, and Buckbeak's flight and and his actualy executuin (and the trio's reactiojn...especially the hug!) to be honest, although PoA missed out loads and irritated me with the poor characterisation and butcher of Ron...the scenes they actaully DID have and were from the book, were often really good! apart from when they kept making ron the less important more-funny-then-brave/nice character. ![]() |

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
I have to say when I watched GOF the first time I was very disappointed by the amount of things they had cut out from the book
![]() Each of the three Triwizard Tournament tasks gained a lot more visual impact the way they were done in the movie. ![]() And ... yes, I'd say Buckbeak's flight in POA is also one of my favourites non-book parts of the movies, as a symbol of the freedom Harry feels when he's flying. Ah - speaking of POA - I like a lot the chorus singing "Something wicked this way comes" at the start-of-term banquet. Sometimes I find myself whistling the tune! ![]()

Re: Is there anything in the movies that you like more than in the books?
Everyone (I mean most of them) agree that the dementer scene wuz Excellent & I agree .......But only if they could show that Hufflepuff match scene a bit more nicely and in a manner in which people who have not read d book can understand it would have been great!!!!! No matter!!! The GoF ball dance scene was great...........:-) and that Dragon thing was nice!!!!!!!!! I like that Care of magical creatures scene it's nice..........
In the books you can not find one thing which we'll find in the movies- Any guesses?- We wont find Dan, Emma and Rupert ;-)!!!!!!! But whatever happens the books are the best!!!!
