Forgot to mention that I'm almost finished with Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

I started Mistborn by Brian Sanderson a month ago. It's the first book of the Mistborn trilogy. I like it so far - the magic system is pretty unique.

This has been on my list for a while, but I've had a hard time tracking it down in the local library system!

Reading The Dark Tower - The Gunslinger by Stephen King. It's a couple of my friends' favorite book, but it's taken me a couple of weeks to reach page 80. Hoping it or my interest in it picks up, but failing to understand the hype thus far. Lab Girl by Hope Jahren is my intermittent read.

This was my problem when I tried reading it months back, it reclaimed it's spot on my to-read shelf.

It's not an easy book to get into and one that needs to be tackled in pretty sizeable chunks although the revised edition is supposedly easier than the original.

I found the first book flashbacks the most distracting in the flow of the book, but I love the series and I am re-reading it for the 5 or 6th time. I'm at the start of book 4 - Wind Through the Keyhole. I know the story so well, I can pick it up and continue reading at anytime on my kindle.

Re: Your current read v6

The Siren, by Kiera Cass

The basic concept of the book, that the ocean is a sentient being that essentially "feeds" off human lives, thus recruit young girls lost at sea as sirens to sink ships to ensure an endless supply of "food" is interesting and rather sinister. That's the strongest part of the book. I don't think this was explored in enough detail. The book quickly descends into the typical girl/boy/forbidden love thing. It's not a bad book by any means, but it could have been a lot better. Kiera Cass did not get the best out of what initially was an interesting idea.

I'm desperate to find a copy of this, and his other stuff. It comes highly recommended from fans of his father's works.

I'm about three-quarters of the way through The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I've read all of the shorts before, and the last two novels, but I was very glad to finally be able to read A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four. Got it for Christmas, only just getting round to reading it now.

Yeah. The Gunslinger isn't great. But it picks up after the first book, I promise.

I've only listened to the first four, because I don't own the books but managed to get hold of the audiobooks through a sort-of friend who didn't want to lend out the books...I've got the last three, plus The Wind Through the Keyhole, which is sort of book 4.5 of The Dark Tower story.

I really didn't rate The Gunslinger that highly, to be honest. Once I got to The Drawing of the Three, however, I absolutely loved it, and continued to enjoy the rest of The Dark Tower series.
