Re: QI - Any Fans?

An enjoyable show to watch, very interesting and funny. The banter between Stephen Fry and Alan Davies is always a great laugh. I'm constantly rooting for Alan to do well!

Which will probably never happen as it's scripted that he's the resident dim bulb

...ah but sometimes he does win! I know it's scripted and nobody knows how the scoring works, but people do come out with non-scripted stuff

True, and if it wasn't scripted to a certain extent then it probably wouldn't be that funny, nearly all shows need some level of backbone before you throw the flesh on. For example, everyone knows the Buzzcocks is scripted and the contestants get told the answers but its still funny. Davies is a great counterpoint to Fry, without him much of the humour would be lost and Fry would run the risk of looking like a pretentious know-it-all. Which is why, I suppose, he has become a national treasure.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

Love it I especially love QI XL - infact I'm watching it now. Stephen Fry is brilliant and Alan Davies (although I think that's the hair)

Which ever one I watched last week Alan did win. First time I'd seen it happen.

Yeah, it doesn't happen very often, although it does happen!

What would you all say would be your favourite lineup?

Re: QI - Any Fans?

I didn't mean necessarily a simple win in regards to Alan Davies. I just meant when he does well during the witty banter and some of the questions. I just like the guy - I think he's a great part of the show as "a counterpont" to Fry, as biscuitsforall pointed out. Although, it's cool he did win - I must have missed that particular show. I enjoy the program for its discussions, jokes, the general atmosphere created by the guests and host. The resultant points aren't what I pay the most attention to really.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

I think mine would be Bill Bailey, Jo Brand, Rich Hall, and the ubiquitous Alan Davies

Tonight's show: Stephen Fry, Liza Tarbuck, Phill Jupitus, Sean Lock and Alan Davies discuss games.

Yes - I thought about Rich Hall, however sometimes he doesn't get invovled - I think it depends on his mood, whereas Johnny Vegas and Rob Brydon never shut up. And I think the Vegas and Fry exchanges are my favorite to watch.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

Just finally finished watching the Games episode now, and I loved how they started off with a riddle. I wish they'd start all episodes with a riddle like that as it was... quite interesting. (Haha sorry lame joke )

Re: QI - Any Fans?

Christmas Eve episode- guests are Lee Mack, Bill Bailey and David Tennant

Three of my favourite people, I reckon. I'm gonna enjoy this one!
This'll also be the first QI:XL of the series, shown on Boxing day (I think)

Yay, lots of David Tennant. I guess he's just trying to prove he'll be around after Doctor Who.

He was around long before Dr Who, so it's a safe bet he'll be around after.

Re: Qi

I love QI, but unfortunately we don't get it in NZ so I can only watch bits and peices online which is a pain. I love Stephen Fry - He is awesome. I also have a soft spot for Bill Bailey.

Re: Qi

I love Qi but I don't really make a point of watching every episode, mainly because I always forget that it's on. I love how no one guesses the answers half the time because it's something everyone knows but turns out to be wrong Am I the only person who watches it because the facts they come out with are, well, quite interesting?

I don't know whether Daniel Radcliffe will be any good on it. I don't watch too many of his interviews so I'll admit I don't know much about him but he wouldn't be someone that I'd expect to be on it. Hopefully they'll make a few HP jokes in that episode though, I'm sure they did Doctor Who jokes when David Tennant was on the panel.
