Re: QI - Any Fans?

I think it's BBC1, this thursday. I'm unsure about the time but it'll be after 9pm, it usually is.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

Strangely, the ABC has just picked this up this year. I used to enjoy Alan Davies on The Clive James Show.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

OK, I've got the Details. Starts Thursday 26th November, 9:30pm, BBC1. It's a 16 part series this year, and the guests this first week are:
Rob Brydon, David Mitchell and Dara o Briain

Okay, the wonderfulness of QI hasn't come to the US, yet. Maybe someday they will run it on BBCA.

On the QI message board, there's a petition to get them to show QI over in America
www.qi.com and click on "talk" to find the forum

Thanks. I see that Australia got it, so if we get enough people to sign, they will show QI on BBCA.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

QI is THE best game show ever invented in my opinion, it's just so briliiantly funny, clever, smart, knowledgeable, witty, genius... I can go on and on... Stephen Fry is our national treasure and he's definitely my hero! But what really makes the show so brilliant is that the concept of the show is to counter cliches and find interesting facts that completely dumbfound the viewer (and Alan Davies of course ) I mean come on... you get points for being INTERESTING! That's just so clever because we in turn get to learn things like the Earth actually has TWO moons! (haha who can remember that one? )

The new series is starting today, we move on onto G! This is my first time watching it from the beginning of the series instead of just watching repeats all the time on Dave

"Has Ron saved a goal yet?" asked Hermione.
"Well, he can do it if he thinks no one is watching him," said Fred, rolling his eyes. "So all we have to do is ask the crowd to turn their backs and talk among themselves every time the Quaffle goes up on his end Saturday."

Yes, he is. We don't get nearly enough of him in the U.S., but thanks for sharing him when you can.

Then the next series they changed it- they asked the same question, "how many moons does the Earth have?" and they had done some research and it turns out that there are a lot more than two.

I can't wait to see this series, I didn't see a lot of the last one for some reason, I really need to catch up

The new G series got off to a good start

Stephen Fry is the perfect host for this amazing show. I love it so much.
I rewatch all the repeats on Dave - you learn so much!

The "Acropolis" banter was the funniest thing I have seen on television.

"They say of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is..." so, so wonderfully funny

...and they end up singing it! That's so good!

I loved it when they gave Alan Davies a gentleman's tool for gardening, and he ended up sawing the set...

Yes! Stephen Fry was getting very panicky and kept reiterating the tools were on loan from a museum. It remined me of the time Arthur Smith threw his glass into the centre of the set thinking it was sugar glass. ( I think C series)

Re: QI - Any Fans?

"YOURS IS REAL!!!"

Or something similar!

Oh yes, I remember that. when they were trying to hit a high note to make them break the glass, and they'd wired a charge to Alan's (which was sugar glass) to make it break, but the other three guests had real glasses...

I watched a few clips on youtube today. How can BBCA ignore this wonderful show? We need it.

That whole improv was sheer genius and it's what you get when you put good comics with brilliant wit like Jimmy Carr, Stephen Fry, Alan Davies, Rob Brydon and Bill Bailey in a room together

Haha yeah Stephen was like the adult in the room saying 'we have to be careful with those!'

I think you can go to the QI website and sign a petition for it to be shown in the US. I haven't checked it myself but worth a try This show deserves to get all the accolades it can get.
EDIT: Okay I see someone else before me also mentioned it, so it's definitely there somewhere.

I just finished watching the second episode of the G series and I was just wondering how many of you guys have actually had the opportunity to use the facts we learn from QI in real life? I really wish I started watching this show from the beginning so I could have taunted my teachers when they try and teach me the reason why Giraffes' necks are so long

Only constantly! Someone says something, I mention something else, following up with- "I saw it on QI so it must be true..."

And I've got the link for the petition to get QI shown in America, it's

Re: QI - Any Fans?

It's always hilarious when Alan Davies ends up finishing last in the quiz with -14 points.

Between Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You, the Beeb is very strong with comedy panel shows.

Re: QI - Any Fans?

Last thursday's episode- Alan came third!

HIGNFY is brilliant too

I wasn't sure about that American panellist they put between Sandi and Sean- I don't know who he is but I found him a little strange

Although I did notice him saying something strange then the next shot being of Bill writing it down (one assumes) in earnest- that was funny
