Re: Futurama!

This new season has been great to say the least. I love it so far. Decision 3012 was hilarious, especially the joke about the Earth Certificate (a reference to how people wanted to see Obama's birth certificate) and the fact that the guy didn't win after all. I also liked this latest episode, though it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be.

Re: Futurama!

"The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" - aired August 10, 2003 on Fox

Into the Wild Green Yonder - the fourth and final DVD/Blu-ray movie, released February 24, 2009

"Reincarnation" - aired September 8, 2011 on Comedy Central

"Meanwhile" - aired September 4, 2013 on Comedy Central

These are the Futurama series finales or near-finales. It's unfortunate that there were four stories made with one eye on the exit door, and it's even more unfortunate that two of them actually have been the end. As Futurama fans, we're used to cancellation. We're also used to rooting for resurrection, or demanding it. I'm not sure if I have the energy, but after spending the entire day watching some favorite episodes, building up to this latest final episode, it reinforced just how amazing this show really has been. A show doesn't usually get several opportunities for a final bow, nor should it, but damn, does Futurama know how to take that final bow. "Meanwhile" is a superior example of what this show can be - it's hilarious, it's smart, it's moving, it's Futurama.

Re: Futurama!

I've watched Futurama a few episodes over the past year or so, and happened to see the last episode. I thought it was cute. I liked that it was centered around Fry and Leela's relationship. Though I haven't seen every episode and I am a very casual watcher, I do want to say that think it was a good idea to save their marriage for the last episode.

Re: Futurama!

Yes, the finale was great and a very great ending to the series as a whole. Whether they do more direct to DVD movies in the future is anyone's guess, but the way the show itself ended was great and a very neat little goodbye wrapped in it. It's going to be sad to not see any more episodes, but for what it was, it had a good run.

Re: Futurama!

It was 15 years ago today - March 28, 1999 - that this amazing show debuted. To celebrate, here are 15 of my favorite quotes.

Bender: Oh. Your. God.
("Amazon Women in the Mood")

Fry: What if I never fell into that freezer-doodle and came to the future-jiggy?
Farnsworth: That question is less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
("Anthology of Interest I")

Dwight: I heard alcohol makes you stupid,
Fry: No, I'm...doesn't!
("The Route of All Evil")

Fry 1: One year later, I gave Leela a diamond scrunchie and we were married.
Fry A: One year later, I got beat up at a Neil Diamond concert by a guy named Scrunchie!
("The Farnsworth Parabox")

Fry: I'll be whatever I wanna do!
("Future Stock")

Truman: Are you planning on creating some kind of alien-human hybrid?
Zoidberg: Are you coming on to me?
Truman: Hot crackers! I take exception to that.
Zoidberg: I'm not hearing a no.
("Roswell That Ends Well")

Zoidberg: Friends, help! A guinea pig tricked me!
("Anthology of Interest I")

Bender: There! Now no one will be able to say I don't own John Larroquette's spine.
("The Luck of the Fryrish")

Farnsworth: Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. "I'm My Own Grandpa!" Let's just steal the damn dish and get out of here! Screw history!
("Roswell That Ends Well")

Bender: I hate the people who love me, and they hate me.
("I, Roommate")

Linda: Homeless robots, too poor to afford even the basic alcohol they need to fuel their circuits: Is there anything sadder? Only drowning puppies - and there would have to be a lot of them.
("Xmas Story")

Farnsworth: Everybody's always in favor of saving Hitler's brain - but when you put it in the body of a great white shark, suddenly you've gone too far!
("A Clone of My Own")

Neutral President: If I don't survive, tell my wife, "Hello."
("Brannigan Begin Again")

Morbo: Morbo forgot how to read the teleprompter. He forgot how you say that letter that looks like a man with a hat.
Linda: That's a 'T.' It goes "'tuh."
Morbo: Hello, little man. I WILL DESTROY YOU!
("The Day the Earth Stood Stupid")

And of course...

Bender: Bite my shiny metal ***!
(constantly)

Happy 15th, Futurama!
