It's awesome -- you should read it sometime . It's well worth it.

Re: X-Men

Well its not so much keeping up with the story, as to peicing together characters etc and basic research into the x-men character. I call it research, its njust me looking at character profiles finding out names, stories and powers.

But I am kind of keeping up with the astonishing x-men, I've read each one up to about 24(25)/30, and I've read the first 28 issues of Ultimate x-men.

Re: X-Men

Hmm... How about talking about our favorite and least favorite characters from the series, Lumos?

I really like Wolverine a lot myself. His sarcastic sense of humor always makes me laugh and his sense of honor and duty is just incredible.

I'm not really a huge fan of Toad though . He's just a pain in the behind most of the time.

Awesome. I'm a Gambit and Beast fan as well . And I'm a Gambit/Rogue shipper too. I laughed my butt off when I was reading the Onslaught saga back in the day -- I SO did not want her to end up with Magneto -- no matter how old he was . In the end, I was rooting for her to be with Gambit .

Re: X-Men

Ah . And I got some scary news... Disney bought up Marvel . When I found out about that one on CNN I wanted to barf a little bit .

The only thing that those two have in common is that they don't swear. Other than that though, they're two different animals. In fact, a friend of mine figures that Disney will ruin Marvel. I sadly agree with him on that one ...

Said article from Yahoo...

tis a sad sad day to be a Marvel comics fan...

They said they would honor the comics and keep the profitable ones... but I doubt things. Disney is mainly in it in terms of movies and comics and stuff for money.

What are all of your thoughts on this?

Re: X-Men

nothing will happen with Marvels activities. Disney just owns Marvel, not managing them.

Yea that's what I figure as well Lumos. Guess I'm just a little bit jaded there towards Disney .

Well here's to hoping for the best there. And that a lot of the comics stay afloat there.

Re: X-Men

The X-Men are great. I got back into them when the movies first came out. My brother and I used to watch the old cartoon series, then we got hooked on "X-Men: Evolution" when it ran on the WB.

As for reading them, my favorite titles are "Astonishing" by Whedon/Cassaday and "Uncanny." I like how with "Astonishing" you could start the series without knowing much about all the histories and confusing continuities that were created with so many titles over so many years. It gets pretty convoluted trying to follow the characters when they've been in the hands of so many different writers/artists. My brother was so nice to give me his complete collection of "Uncanny" when he lost interest in comic books.

My favorite characters are Kitty Pryde and Nightcrawler. I like Shadowcat because when we first meet her she's just a normal teenage girl suddenly thrust into a crazy new world with amazing powers (sort of like Harry). And Nightcrawler...well, who can dislike Nightcrawler? He's blue and fuzzy and can teleport. I wish I could teleport. Also, it's interesting, for both Kitty and Kurt, their religions are important to them.

Same here with me. I really loved to watch the shows when I was younger and I still catch episodes every now and then when I get a chance.
