I love watching this movie with people who have never seen it. The part where the twist plays out has produced the best surprised looks on peoples faces I have ever seen.
The end of the Illusionist isn't a foregone conclusion; it's just the way Inspector Uhl thinks it might have happened but might not be, perhaps, what actually happened. Inspector Uhl spends the whole movie trying to figure out Eisenheim's magic tricks but none of them are ever explained just as Uhl only thinks he has figured out Eisenheim's purpose and methods in his final trick but, again, nothing is ever actually explained. The entire movie is from Uhl's perspective and is based on what Uhl himself witnesses, what his henchmen see and report back to him or what conjecture on what he thinks happened in the scenes where there's no way he could have witnessed them.

That movie is really well done.

I know! I like to be surprised by movies and I don't like it when I go to a movie with someone who sits there and tries to solve the mystery before the movie does. I go to the movies a lot with a friend who does this which makes for very interesting and sometimes aggrevating discussions afterwards; I like the movie to reveal itself in its own time, I like to buy into the misdirection and be taken for a ride with the characters and I find it really disappointing when my friend, afterwards, turns to me and says, "I don't know about you but I figured it out in the first ten minutes!" That ruins movies to me and when I do "figure it out" in the first ten minutes of the movie I end up disappointed in the writers and not liking the movie at all.

Get the DVD and watch the Director's Cut. The twist to the ending is much more twisted.

Thor The Dark World. I'm a DC Comics fan therefore don't know much about Marvel. But the ending?! Woah! Obviously going to make way for a sequel!

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Spoiler: show
I kept all the movie wondering why Sherlock Holmes wasn't included in the League when suddenly -bang- Moriarty appears.

I'm pretty sure it was a Braille bible, not a blank one, and Braille writing takes up a lot more space than regular print, so that could only have been a small portion of the bible. In the end all the efforts to obtain the book were pointless--it wasn't the whole thing, and nobody would have known how to read it.

Frozen:
Spoiler: show
Prince Hans being a bad guy took me entirely by surprise.

The Uninvited (1944 movie):
Spoiler: show
The Perfect Mary Meredith being the evil ghost, and Gail being Carmel's daughter were both big twists

Fried Green Tomatoes:
Spoiler: show
The fate of Frank Bennet--"the secret's in the sauce"--classic!

Samuel L Jackson's character getting chomped by a shark in sudden, shocking fashion halfway through Deep Blue Sea was totally unexpected!

I am pretty sure that the Big Bad's reader says that he cannot read it because of that twist.
