The Life of Brian or Holy Grail.

I would say "Star Wars" always gives me that happy feeling - I can't wait to see part three sometime soon (again).

Ooh, when I am feeling a bit down I like to watch Love Actually - that always makes me feel better!

Also, Talladega Nights because it is so very silly that it always makes me giggle

I love that movie too! But when I'm a bit down, I love watching the Princess Bride (my name is Inigo Montoya...), the Goonies (I'm back in childhood !) or Shrek.

I haven't seen the Goonies for years!

Yeah, Shrek is definitely another good one

Definitley a great pick-me-up movie. I think that or almost anything with Julia Roberts in it (except maybe My Best Friend's Wedding). I love her!

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down

If I want funny, I tend to go for Monty Python and the Holy Grail or just about anything Mel Brooks, namely Spaceballs. The Princess Bride is also great.

For just down-home feel-good stuff, I tend to put on Transformers, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, any of the Star Wars trilogy or any of the Harry Potter movies.

I forgot to mention Pirates of the Caribbean - any one of them. That's a movie I often watch when I need a laugh.

When I'm down, I turn to kiddie movies because they are so uncomplicated and funny. My favourite pick-me-up would have to be Ice Age - absolutely hilarious.

Almost any movie makes me feel good. Probably the best are Galaxy Quest (I giggle to myself just thinking about it), Princess Bride, Sense and Sensibility, and Happy Feet.

Oooh I forgot this one! I love it, and my son too. I also enjoy Disney's Merlin, a very funny one.

I agree for The Princess Bride to be a cheerful movie(kind of), but I can't watch Narnia without crying. When Aslan dies it's just so sad everytime it always gets to me. I also can't watch some of the HP movies without crying especially GoF and Ootp because Sirius and Cedric die.

Shrek is great when things are getting me down, I love it.

Really, though, a lot of films that are either pure comedy or escapism is great when I'm feeling down-something pretty optimistic, active and not requiring too much thought.

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down

When I'm feeling down, I like to watch a tearjerker (preferably with a happy ending, but not invariably), which is most often a beautiful love story that will restore my hope... And since it will 100% make me cry, that is how I clean out my system in a way. Something like catharsis, if you will.

Although overall i must agree, you've forgotten that our dear Ashton also stars in a few rather depressing movies...i haven't seen the other two let down their comical role!
