Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

VH1 did a show on the TOP 100 Music Videos from the 90's...

http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/the_gre...red_copy.jhtml

So I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread, and ask YOU what your favorite songs and/or music videos were of the nineties.

All of mine come from the list on that link... and in no particular order:

- Billy Ray Cyrus "Achy Breaky Heart"
- Right Said Fred "I'm Too Sexy"
- Meredith Brooks (Unfortunately, we can't say the name of her song on here, but most people will know what I am talking about)
- Cher "Believe"
- Barenaked Ladies "One Week"
- Will Smith "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It"
- Edwin McCain "I'll Be"
- The Presidents of the United States of America "Peaches"
- Live "I Alone"
-Jay-Z featuring Amil and Ja Rule "Can I Get A..."
- Naughty by Nature "O.P.P."
-Joan Osborne "One of Us"
-Matchbox Twenty "3 AM"
-En Vogue "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)
-Oasis "Wonderwall"
-C+C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)"
-Green Day "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)"
-Christina Aguilera "Genie In A Bottle"
-Goo Goo Dolls "Iris"
-Ricky Martin "Livin' la Vida Loca"
-Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Baby"
-*NSYNC "Tearin' Up My Heart"
- Radiohead "Creep"
-BLACKstreet "No Diggity"
-Spice Girls "Wannabe"
-Salt-N-Pepa with En Vogue "Whatta Man"
-House of Pain "Jump Around"
-Soundgarden "Black Hole Sun"
-Eminem "My Name Is"
-Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge"
-MC Hammer "U Can't Touch This"
-Destiny's Child "Say My Name"
-Metallica "Enter Sandman"
-Hanson "MMMBop"
-Korn "Freak on a Leash"
-Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On"
-Sir Mix-A-Lot "Baby Got Back"
-Britney Spears "...Baby One More Time"
-TLC"Waterfalls"
-Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
-U2 "One"
-Backstreet Boys "I Want It That Way"

Wow, that's alot... what are yours? Of course there are a lot of others I like... but these are from the list.

I'm not big on 90s music but a couple of weeks ago I saw "Back Streets Back" by the Backstreet Boys.. man that brought back memories!

lol I LOVED watching 100 Greatest Songs of the 90's! It was so fun! I agree with you, Fury, on the favorite songs front. I almost immediately downloaded like half of the songs on the list. I like some other songs that weren't on the list, though; they could have picked a better N'Sync song.

I think my favorite video of the 90s was Aaliyah's 4 Page Letter.

Maybe I'll try to come up with a list later too... I miss the 90s...

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

Great thread idea, Fury. Brings back my teens

Songs from the Nineties that I particularly loved...
REM - Losing my religion, Drive, Nightswimming

Moby - Everything is Wrong in its entirety

Sting - Mad about you, Fields of gold

Nirvana - every single song from Nevermind

Radiohead - every song from OK computer

Beastie Boys - the whole of Ill Communication

U2 - One

Smashing Pumpkins - everything, really

The Lemonheads - Drug buddy

Oasis - every song from What's the Story Morning Glory

Suede - Animal Nitrate

Die Fantastischen Vier - Sie ist weg, Krieger

Red Hot Chili Peppers - the whole album Blood Sugar Sex Magic

Metallica - The Unforgiven

The Cure - everything from Wish

Björk - Hyperbalad, Yoga

The Prodigy - No Good

Everything But The Girl - Miss you

Massive Attack - the whole of Mezzanine

Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion was a killer album and so was Violator

and THE best album of the Nineties - Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

And the best videos -
Nirvana - Smells like teenspirit

Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug

Tom Petty - Into the great wide open (with the young Johnny Depp )

Metallica - One

Depeche Mode - everything Anton Corbijn does is so wonderful, I love all their videos to bits

Joan Osborne - One of us (I loved the sepia colours)

The Prodigy - No Good

Beastie Boys - Sabotage

Sadly, I don't remember too many videos from back then...

Thinking about it, I must say that the Nineties were a great decade for music, even though they also spawned some of the most amazing trash

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

Songs from the nineties are so great. When I was younger, like seven, my mom always used to put the station of the radio where it was all of the oldies, like 90's music, and I've liked music from that era ever since.

Well, to me....
Any of those songs were my favorites, but Hanson "MMMBOp" I loved that song and of course METALLICA "Enter Sand Man" the fantastic Black Album!

I agree those songs has to be on that list... but... Billy Ray Cyrus in the first place... humm... I know that song was incredible popular, but that´s going too far...

I must agree too that the "Too sexy" thing is a classic already XD

I hated Nirvana, never liked it.

Ricky Martin "Living La vida loca", I like that song but "La copa de la Vida" was so much better, it hit the roof during football World Cup 1998 (what an incredibles memories I really enjoyed that World Cup)

Korn had better songs, but maybe that one was the most popular. Will Smith had better songs.

My songs from the 90s are many others, way different from that list.
My list has a bigger percentage of European music than US.

It's not in first place, it was just the first one I put up there of my favorites . Definitely not in first place . I don't know what is to be honest.

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

ah, thinking of the nineties always gets me in a funny, slightly sentimental mood. That's definitely the decade that gets most of my 'firsts', first day in high school, first day at college, first kiss, first time driving a car, first time crashing a car, first party, (insert all the firsts that are inappropriate in a forum like this), first heartbreak, first own flat, first job... And the soundtrack for all this is - well, in retrospection, I like to gloss over the embarrassing parts of that soundtrack and just remember the glorious, like Nirvana and Radiohead. But heck, I'll own up - the first time I sneaked into a disco with fifteen, Eurobeat was big, and 2Unlimited had a huge hit around here with 'No Limit', and yes, I danced to that song. I forgot the band, but 'Mr Vain' was another massive hit that summer and I loved it as a sort of guilty pleasure, while officially listening to The Cure's Wish album. I had to become a good deal older to be capable of admitting the occasional slips of taste.

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

I'm a nineties kid, so this shouldn't be too hard for me... I do remember most of the stuff that went on, so hopefully this will reflect some of it... The 90s were an era of REM's best work, and as my favourite band, they will be involved here, I imagine!

Sinéad O Connor- Nothing Compares 2 U
REm- Losing My Religion
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch- Good Vibrations
Nirvana- Smells Like Teen Spirit
Whitney Houston- I Will Always Love You
RHCP- Under the Bridge
Michael Jackson- Black or White
House of Pain- Jump Around
Eric Clapton- Tears in Heaven
The Proclaimers- I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)
REM- Man on the Moon
Bruce Springsteen- Streets of Philadelphia
Counting Crows- Mr Jones
Coolio- Gangsta's Paradise
Fugees- Killing Me Softly
Oasis- Wonderwall
Hanson- MMMBop
No Doubt- Don't Speak
Jay Z- Hard Knock Life
TLC- No Scrubs

Those are taken from my MP3, under 1990s and chronologically listed (I think...) Some of them qualify for video awards, like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Gansta's Paradise and Losing My Religion...

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

Britpop...yay Britpop! Oasis and The Verve changed the way I listen to music forever, and nearly all the bands I love most began their careers in the 90s- other favourites included Garbage, Republica, Portishead and No Doubt. I was also a huge Spice Girls/Lolly/Aqua fan, too.
As for favourite songs/videos, here goes:
Portishead- Glory Box
Oasis- Slide Away
The Verve- History
Republica- Ready To Go
Garbage- I Think I'm Paranoid-
Sixpence None The Richer -Kiss Me (permanently associated in my head with the movie She's All That)
No Doubt- Just A Girl
And I absolutely loved the video for the Spice Girls' Say You'll Be There.

Re: Your favorite songs/ music videos from the 90's

There are quite a few good songs on that VH1 list.
I'll add
Madonna - Ray of Light
Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.....how can this one not be on that list!
Cranberries - Dreams
Guns N' Roses - November Rain
......just a few. Hmm......I think I need to go find some of my old CD's now.
