Re: Perfect Albums

Viva la Vida, absolutely! Can't believe I forgot that!

And along with those, I want to add Kings of Leon's debut to my list!
And, also, Muse's Black Holes and Revelations.
And, finally, or at least, one would hope so, REM's Document.

While Muse are easily the best thing to ever happen to planet Earth ( IMO ) I'd say Origin of Symmetry is by far a superior album.

Another perfect album:
Anberlin- New Surrender. Not a single weak song on there!

Re: Perfect Albums

Not necessarily my favorite albums, but what I would actually call "perfect" albums:

Jimmy Eat World "Clarity"
Pantera "Vulgar Display of Power"
Dr. Dre "Chronic 2001"
Cheap Trick "At Budokan"
Elliot Smith "Either/Or"
Belle & Sebastian "If You're Feeling Sinister"
Ramones "Leave Home"
Blondie "Eat to the Beat" (many Blondie fans may not agree, but I think there's a good argument for it, even though all the "hits" were mostly on Parallel Lines and Autoamerican)

Re: Perfect Albums

There aren't many 'perfect' albums out there in my opinion. There's usually at least one song that I just don't like all that much. The only album that I can think of right now is Almost Here by The Academy Is. The album itself means a lot to me and I just can't bear to skip a single track when I listen to it. They are all absolutely brilliant. The album as a whole probably isn't my favourite in the whole world but there's not a song on there that I do not like so I guess it's as perfect as it gets for me.

I'm going to ponder this a little further then come back and post some more 'perfect' albums. I'm sure there must be a few more out there.

Re: Perfect Albums

frou frou's Details IMO. Imogen Heap and Guy Sigworth defiitely brought their 'A' game when it came to that album. Even the later added bonus track and the remix they temporarily got back together for were just perfection. I can't think of any other album where I was so completely satisfied with the vocals, the lyrics, the music, and the overall vision of the album.

Re: Perfect Albums

I think a 'perfect album' is extremely subjective. I read some of the albums/artists people have posted here and cringe and want to scream "WHY!?" at my computer so it really depends on what you like.

Re: Perfect Albums

One album that I just think is amazing is Blackbird by Alterbridge. I don't think many people have heard of them yet, because they only have two albums out so far, but it's basically the band Creed with a different lead singer. Their other album (their first one) is One Day Remains which still has some really good music on it, but I just really like their other one, Blackbird......so good....

Re: Perfect Albums

Soul's Core by Shawn Mullins would be my favorite. There's not a single filler on that album. Then, The Best of What's Around Vol 1 by Dave Matthews Band is another. Both are great.

Re: Perfect Albums

I think my choices probably show my age. NB these are not necessarily my favourite albums but the ones where the fast forward button becomes redundant - "all killer, no filler", as the saying goes. In no particular order:

Quiet Life - Japan
St Julian - Julian Cope
The Wrong People - Furniture
Secrets of the Beehive - David Sylvian
The Sensual World - Kate Bush
Sweet England - Jim Moray

There are only two albums I know of that I absolutely love every single song on them. Nuestro Amor by RBD and Rock What You Got by Superchick.

'Black Holes and Revelations' by Muse. I love it! I don't own it, but I've heard all the songs on the CD and they are amazing. Perfect album!

For me, the perfect album is Who's Next by the Who. I can listen to it over and over again without being bored. I absolutely love it.

Re: Perfect Albums

Well I'm going to go with some country albums here, as I really am not too fond of a lot of songs by most other musicians.
Any of the Rascal Flatts albums I would consider "perfect albums." I love all the songs, and don't skip through any of them.
Also, both of Taylor Swift's albums are the same way. I just love to listen to them in their entirity.

Nickleback's "All The Right Reasons," was pretty near perfect for me. Their was only one or two songs I didnt enjoy.

Re: Perfect Albums

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Without a doubt. This album is *absolutely* a must-hear.

The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac is very good, as well.

But, for sheer musical perfection, get The Dance on DVD. WOW.

Re: Perfect Albums

hmm I'm not sure if I own a 'perfect' album. I have albums I love and favourite albums. But nothing I see as perfect. Nothing I'm always in the mood for or which doesn't have songs I like less than others on. Does that sound bad.

I'm going to have to look through my list now...

Maybe Damien Rice- O is pretty close to perfect... yeah I think that's the only one. It's not even my favourite really, but it's an amazing album and I do love it, all the songs are great, and my favourite keeps changing so yeah.
