Re: Game Songs

I like the vocal-themes from that game based around Shadow (of the Sonic series). It was out a couple of years ago.

I also like most of the themes from DDR.

Chrono Cross's sound track is another that I truly love. All the music on that 3-cd set, is very soothing and relaxing.

As for some older games I really enjoyed the music for, I'd have go with Donkey Kong Country (SNES), Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest (SNES), Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES), Star Fox (SNES), Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64...that re-arranged album and the orchestral album are great, and I love them both), Final Fantasy VII (PSX), Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Gensis/Megadrive), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Sega Genesis/Megadrive), Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Sega Genesis/Megadrive), The Lion King (SNES), Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube/Wii...this game needs an offiicial soundtrack), Diddy Kong Racing (N64), and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Gamecube).

I like all of the game music in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and both Golden Sun games.

I really like the music from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and LoZ: WW...

I wish iTunes sold more video game soundtracks...I'd buy them.

Re: Game Songs

Well, if this means any song in any games, there is no comparing to the large and awesome soundtrack on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. My favorite soundtrack in any video game ever!

Re: Game Songs

I like the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks.

My very favorite game song right now is from the trailer of Shirokishi Monogatari, which is slated for a 2008 release.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time soundtrack rocked.

And Still Alive in Portal is so amazing.

Re: Game Songs

While not strictly a soundtrack, I love how the radio stations are done in the Grand Theft Auto series, particularly GTA III. They really transport me into the era that the games take place in.

Re: Game Songs

Game music! I have a few favorites, though they are kind of old.

I'll start with Chrono Trigger - the music is nothing short of AMAZING. Yasunori Mitsuda, Mitsunobu Nakamura, and Nobuo Uematsu really outdid themselves with it (noted tracks: Silent Light, Frog's Theme, Crying Mountain, 600 A.D., Zeal Palace).

Next is definitely the music from Alundra, which I searched high and low for for many years. Kohei Tanaka is another genius and his music definitely enhanced the already great game (noted tracks: Requiem, Kline's Dream, Dream a Dream, The Use of Meia, The Shrine of the Lake)

I don't want to ramble on so some other good ones are: Legend of Dragoon OST (Especially the theme song), Tales of Phantasia, Super Mario Brothers (classic!) Sailor Moon Another Story, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy Tactics and VII =D

Re: Game Songs

I love the Leged of Zelda songs, and all of the ones on Super Smash Bros.

I also like the music from a game called Age of the Empires. It's hard to describe what it's like...some of it is Asian, some is African-sounding, some is kind of like English folk...and it had all sorts of cool sound effects.

Re: Game Songs

Any Zelda song will always be my favorite.
But I like the Super Mario games songs, especially Galaxy. Kingdom Hearts was very good. I'm also a big fan of any creepy song/ random scary sound in horror games. I'm currently playing Condemned 2 and the soundtrack is very creepy.

Re: Game Songs

I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid music. It's really great, very drama-y and also has lovely tender moments, during character deaths or revelations or things like that.
And I simply adore Nobuo Uematsu, who wrote the music for Final Fantasy. I just think that guy is a genius! Aerith's Theme is so pretty..

I like "Devils Never Cry" from Devils May Cry, "Simple and Clean" and, "Sanctuary" which I believe are both from Kingdom Hearts 2. (?) They're both really good songs!

Yeah, great music in all three games I've played of that franchise. I love all the sound effects and music. It is hard to describe what it is, though, I agree.

Re: Game Songs

I'll have to think some about this, but some music that immediately comes to mind is that from the Icewind Dale games. Both featured phenomenal music. Here's an example:

Re: Game Songs

Ohh, I love Utada Hikaru's songs for Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2; "Simple and Clean" and "Sanctuary". I also love almost everything off of Dance Dance Revolution Max, Dance Dance Revolution Max 2, and Dance Dance Revolution Extreme.. the arcade versions, though. I don't particularly enjoy the system versions, however I do love "Moonlight Shadow" off of Ultramix 2 for the XBOX system.
