Re: Twilight - The Movie

News from Stephenie:
Quote:
New topic: the Twilight movie

I do not have any casting updates. I haven’t heard anything since the Robert Pattinson announcement. I’m waiting on the same pins and needles you all are. When I get home from vacation, I’ll see if I can get some news.
And from the Lex:
Quote:
t’s been no secret that one of the shooting locations for the Twilight movie would be the state of Oregon. The Oregon Film and Video Office has put out an "all crafts call". In other words they are looking for location personnel to staff out the shoot. This means they are looking for camera people, and possibly extras among other things.
"Twilight Productions, LLC
Call for Resumes for the Feature Film

"Twilight"
All Crafts
Prep begins 1/2/08
Shooting tentatively scheduled for 2/25 for approx. 8 weeks
Please email resumes to:
twilightresumes@gmail.com "
So really no new news, other than they'll start shooting next month.

Yeah, I don't know why they don't use the real places, either. What's that all about?

Anyway, I can't wait to see the medow scene when Bella first sees Edward's skin get all glittery in the sunlight.

What do you all think of open casting for Jacob? I just saw it on Stephenie's website and I'm unsure of it. Well, they need someone, but I'm not really looking forward to seeing if the actor looks even close to the discription.

Re: Twilight - The Movie

Sometimes open casting is a huge success, other times it's terrible, and doesn't work at all. It just depends, I suppose. I really like the person she picked for Jacob, but he's too old now. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Twilight - The Movie

What's that I hear? Open casting for Jacob? I hope they find someone good . . .

I think Robert Pattison will do a good joob, though he's not exactly who I had in mind. Come to think of it, I didn't have anyone special in mind, but I wasn't expecting Robert . . . but I'm sure he'll do great.

One other thing: I hope Edward doesn't have an English accent! Like mac_attack, I hope he'll do a good American accent.

Re: Twilight - The Movie

I'm half worried, half excited to see this movie. I love the casting for Bella, she looks exactly like how I'd imagined. But I still need to warm up to the idea of Robert Pattinson as Edward. My mind is still set on Henry Cavill for the most part (I got the idea from Stephenie's dream cast, heh). But I'm not going to complain, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he can prove me wrong.

Haha funny enough, whenever Edward's speaking, I hear his voice in a Londoner accent. I just can't imagine him with an American accent, it's so strange. So I wouldn't mind him keeping his accent for the movie *grins sheepishly*. But there's no way that's happening, so...

Oh, really? I always imagined him as being American. I guess I can imagine him with an English accent . . . yep, I can. I guess it wouldn't be SO bad if they kept the accent.

Me too! I imagine him and all of the Cullens with very well-spoken English voices It's strange really because I can imaigne everyone else with American accents

I'm becoming more and more enthusiastic about Robert Pattinson as Edward. I think with the make-up etc, he'll look really good. He will never look exactly how everyone has imagined him as - that would be impossible. But I think he's got the acting skills to pull off a really good Edward

You know what? I think you guys are making me change my mind on the accent...the idea's beginning to grow on me.

I wasn't thrilled about Robert playing Edward at first, but Im getting more excited about it, too. I think he'll do fine. He's a great actor and, like you said, with make-up he'll probably look pretty good.

For me, Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewert don't look anything like Bella and Edward in my mind. I imagine Edward much more handsome (not that Robert isn't handsome, but vampires are supposed to be very good-looking) and Bella more plain. Even Stephenie's dream cast don't match the images I have in my head (except for Jacob who looks perfect), and I'm content with that. I'm much more concerned on how they act. For instance, Alan Rickman doesn't look like Snape to me, but he's an amazing actor and I'm glad he was chosen. When it comes down to it, people are more concerned with how the actor portrays the character, not how he or she looks like.

Hmm...you think Alan Rickman doesn't look like Snape? I do...but it doesn't matter.

I know what you mean. When I saw the Mad-Eye Moody, I was a little annoyed because his eye was strapped on and he didn't look anything like the Moody I had imagined in my head when I read the books. But the actor did a great job and so I don't really care about that anymore. I'm sure that's how it'll work out with Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewert. At least, I'm hoping that's how it'll work out...

Haha, yeah, I imagine Snape differently. I imagine Snape a bit skinnier and with greasier hair.

Exactly! When I first heard about Evana being Luna, my first thought was, "That isn't how Luna looks to me. Luna has dirty blonde hair, and Evana's isn't that dark." But I don't care now because she portrayed Luna amazingly.

I'm not sure how Kristen Stewert or Robert Pattison will do as Bella and Edward, but my main hope and focus is for them to portray their parts well. I mean, not one actor is going to satisfy everyone's image of Edward or Bella, so I don't really see the point in arguing that Robert/Kristen don't look like Edward or Bella.

JMO.

Speaking of her dream cast, I don't understand why everyone is so in love with the idea of Emily Browning as Bella. To me she looks five years too young... and there's just something about her that doesn't fit.

I never imagined Bella as plain, prolly 'cause I've known too many gorgeous girls who think they're just "eh". So whenever she'd describe herself as "plain", I'd think "...you're just saying that...", especially after the fact that she had all the guys drooling over her *rolls eyes*. I saw her as naturally beautiful, just lacking much care about her physical appearance (messy hair kind of thing). Though I think I was a bit influenced by the fanart that got me into the books in the first place - Kristen sort of has the same face shape as the Bella in this girl's art (burdge-bud). That's also where I got my mental picture for Edward, heh.

But yeah, it comes down to acting ability. I'm sure she'll do a good job, cause she was in quite a few movies... and Robert, I'm still iffy about him (I watched GoF today, and actually paid attention to Cedric for once) but I think I'm warming up to him. Maybe once I see him in character I'll be good with it.

I agree with that. She does seem to look too young, and Bella is supposed to be a junior in high school in the first book.

Well, I'm not really going to discuss why the people at Forks drool all over her since this isn't the thread, but I never imagined Bella really beautiful. With makeup her features were enhanced, but there are a lot of people in real life that look plain without makeup and gorgeous with makeup, and that's how I see Bella. I see her features a bit flawed, actually, thanks to Stephenie's detailed description.

StephenieMeyer.comIn my head, Bella is very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and more straight than they are arched. She's five foot four inches tall, slender but not at all muscular, and weighs about 115 pounds. She has stubby fingernails because she has a nervous habit of biting them. And there's your very detailed description.

So, overall, Kristen Stewart doesn't match that description and the view in my head, and the same goes for every actress that I can think of as of the moment. Even though I never expected anyone to look Bella, I did think Kristen didn't look like her.

I don't know about Kristen since I haven't seen any of the movies she's been in (but I have been planning to see Speak since I read and loved the book), so I have no idea how she'll be. Stephenie explained the kinds of movies she has been in, and I think since she has the experience with all kinds of movies that are mixed in Twilight, she'll do well.

Robert . . . I have no idea how he'll be. I didn't have a problem with him playing Cedric, but I haven't seen any other movie he's been in, so I can't predict how he'll act as Edward.

Wow yeah, that doesn't sound like Kristen. I have to say, my mental image of Bella was completely different. Considering we never got a real description of her, other than her pale skin and dark hair, and her height, people just kind of let their imaginations run loose on that one. Oh well, too bad - my mental Bella is stuck at a Kristen-ish type girl.

Considering Cedric only had about... three lines in the whole movie, and a few smirks and intense looks here and there, it's hard to judge. But apparently his audition was amazing, so I have confidence in that, at least.

Kristen I'm not worried about; I read reviews about her and she seems like a great actress. I still plan on seeing In the Land of Women, so I'll see for myself.

I agree that Kristen's a choice I'm not so sure about. I've seen some of the movies that she's in and she seems like she MIGHT be able to pull off playing Bella.

I feel really bad for Robert! He thinks that we don't like him and I think he's a great choice for Edward. He's obviously better than that French guy (I can't remember his name) that the fans wanted. He's young and we know that he can act, even if he hasn't been a main character before.

That is an awesome poster. Not sure about the tag line though - evil has a choice? Hmmm..... I'm excited about Robert playing Edward, I've just re read the books and put him in my mind for Edward - very nice!! Not so sure about KS though, she wasn't what I was going for with Bella (or maybe it's cos I wanna be Bella!)

Anyone reckon that Dennis Quaid would be excellent as Charlie??
