Yea that's always good. Movies that make me sad aren't good ones to cheer me up. Generally anything that makes me laugh and has a good storyline are ones that I'll come back to when I'm feeling down.

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down

I really love The Holiday (with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black, and Kate Winslet). It's one of those movies that has this entertaining story, upbeat soundtrack, solid cast, and a beautiful bright, shining red bow tied up at the end. I love movies with happy endings and this one will always put a smile on my face, no matter how many times I've seen it. I'm sure there are flaws in the acting/story/etc. but I'll be glad to maintain blissful ignorance.

Jane Austen cures all sadness (just have to make sure it's a good adaptation).

I hate to sound like a dork but if I am really feeling down, I always want to see a good old fashioned Disney Movie. To be specific Newsies, or A Goofy Movie I don't know why but those are without question the ones that make me feel better.

Disney movies are a cure-all, I swear. I tend to have Disney marathons when I'm sick.

I also like It's A Wonderful Life, P.S. I Love You, and Away We Go.

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down

I prefer to watch horror movies when I'm upset. My movies of choice are the "Nightmare On Elm Street" movies. There's nothing like a little Freddy Krueger to pull me out of a funk, as twisted as that might sound.
