Re: What's the saddest song you have ever heard?

From the top of my head:

No Bravery - James Blunt (crazy sad, but beautiful)
No Tears - James Blunt
Cry - James Blunt (a lot of his songs are extremely sad, actually, which isn't surprising considering him being in the military service and everything...)
Heart Of Gold - James Blunt (OK, I'll stop now XD )
Concrete Angel - Martina McBride (makes me cry every time, especially with the music video)
Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd (such a sad, powerful song)\
Hey You - Pink Floyd
Hallelluah - Leonard Cohen
Dark Come Soon - Tegan and Sara (this song is just so painfully raw and real for me. I cry like a baby whenever I hear it)
Are You Ten Years Ago - Tegan and Sara (not sad, exactly, but just very very relatable imo, always makes me get a knot in my throat)
Yesterday - The Beatles
Let It Be - The Beatles
A Most Peculiar Man - Simon and Garfunkel
House Of The Rising Sun - The Animals
Mockingbird - Eminem
Didn't They - Taylor Swift (unreleased, which is a shame. Her best lyrics by far)
Daddy - Korn (I actually had to stop listening to this song. Not only was it sad, but extremely disturbing, probably the most disturbing song I've heard)
Goodbye To You - Michelle Branch
This Life - Marie Digby
Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley
Temporary Home - Carrie Underwood

And many more, just can't think of more right now...

That's the one I was gonna say. When I first heard it I kind of did a double take: "Children waiting for the day they feel good...Happy birthday, happy birthday." Wow, talk about depressing! Although it does have a pretty piano part.

(And the Band Played) Waltzing Matilda - Pogues version
Tears in Heaven - Eric Claption (the thing that makes it so sad is the story behind it)
Hurt - Johnny Cash version
Long Black Veil - The Band version

And a whole bunch of Irish folksongs about war and famine.

There was also a song that this Australian guy wrote for a weekly contest on a musicians' website. It made me cry every time I heard it.

From a Distance - Bette Midler

Don't know if I'd really call it the saddest, but it's the only one I can recall that made me cry. Something about the lyrics. I'm not sure what.
