I hope that they bring Single Father, but I'm sure it will take a long time.
Sweet . Hope you enjoy them. It's a good series.

Russell Howard's Good News is brill! It's not on this week, I think they're saving the last episode for Christmas week, so they're showing Dingledodies instead on BBCThree. I don't know if I'm going to watch it, because I know for a fact I've got the Russell Howard Live boxset for Christmas
Plus, I'm going to see him live in Cardiff in February, so I'm really excited about that

I think that's why I like it so much. The characters are so original and believable. Also Nathan.

I find the characters to be very believable, too. It has some brilliant dialogue. And Nathan cannot be stressed enough.

I haven't watched many British TV shows. Just Merlin and Skins. Recommendations?

A Touch of Frost is a good series to watch, along with Rosemary and Thyme, Inspector Morse, Inspector Lewis, As Time Goes By... are good ones to watch.

If you watched and enjoyed Skins, then you might like Misfits. It's been described as Skins crossed with Heroes.

Re: Fans of British television shows...

First off, Monty Python's Flying Circus is, without doubt, amazing!!!

Just adore Little Britain as well as A Bit of Fry and Laurie... Gavin & Stacey is a charming little sitcom as well!

I was raised on Python from the age of four... high doses of cross-dressing lumberjacks, vicious gangs of "Keep Left" signs, and Kamikaze Scotsmen have produced quite the strange individual. And I am right happy with that!

Re: Fans of British television shows...

I've only just watched the whole of Gavin and Stacey- it's REALLY good!

Was never interested, although I've always adored both James Corden and Ruth Jones...made no sense. My boyfriend's family bought me the whole series for chrimble, and I finished watching it today, and thoroughly enjoyed it

I actually think that Vanessa Shanessa Jenkins is my ultimate hero of all time!

Re: Fans of British television shows...

Does anybody know how I might be able to watch Single Father since I'm in the US? I really hope they bring it over here...heard it is really good. I had watched the first 15 or 20 mins of the first episode on YT when it originally aired, but then the bbc took it down. So I've started it and now I really want to finish it! haha.

Re: Fans of British television shows...

I've recently been getting into British shows. I Aside from Doctor Who and Sherlock which have their own threads, I love The IT Crowd. It's hilarious! I think I'll be watching alot of British shows from now on. They seem to be so much better than some American shows.

The best British clip of all time- hilarious one minute, heartbreaking the next.

Blackadder goes forth.
The most terrible Blackadder ending (when you see the raw footage without the slowing and the volume) turns into the most beautiful

Schlub, that scene is so poignant. How ever many times I see it I still find it moving, I really don't think they could have devised a better, or sadder, ending.

The IT crowd is fantastic, apparently there will be a new show some time in 2011, woot! We do have a thread about it here.

I love Gavin and Stacey! I thought it was brilliant, it was one of those things I didn't watch on TV before getting the first series on DVD, I just went on hearsay and I ended up absolutely loving it, hilarious I heard they were going to make an American version of it, but I just can't imagine it having the same charm as the British version.

I only really got in to the IT crowd last series, so I will have to look up the earlier series

As for British shows I've enjoyed recently, I loved Sherlock. I enjoy soaps, but mainly Coronation Street, I think that's the best of British right there. I watched the TV series "State of Play" which was on years ago on DVD recently, the political drama and that was honestly one of the best things I've seen. So much good acting, such a talented cast. It had me hooked, watched the whole thing in about two days!

Oh and someone mentioned Come Dine With Me, that show is hilarious. I tried watching the Australian version which they've been showing on telly here, but without the classic voiceover guy it just wasn't the same

Peep Show (England)

I'm an American, but I've been watching "Peep Show" on Hulu. I am absolutely falling in love with this show. It's hilarious and very fresh.

Anyone with me?

Peep Show and The Inbetweeners are both widely available online and are the best British shows ever. Enjoy!

There's loads of 80s-ish comedies that are brilliant (The Young Ones, Blackadder...)

Psychoville 2 has just finished - and that was AMAZING. Bizarre, but possibly the best thing on telly this year.

I have a secret love of Coronation Street - though I mostly disapprove of soaps - I just love Sophie & Sian so much!
