I know. I follow DC on Twitter and they keep telling me about it. I still don't get Discovery Channel and it's killing me.

Re: Deadliest Catch

I'm amazed so far how much they're showing of what Phil is going through. I always think at any moment someone will say, "Turn the camera off" considering how serious this whole ordeal is. I'm wondering if they're so used to the cameras, and so afraid of what's going to happen that they don't give a damn if they're being filmed.

They're always posting clips and teasers.

I understand that Phil actually requested the cameras keep rolling.

Yes, that's what I read, too. He wanted to have a good ending for this story.

Re: Deadliest Catch

Another great ep last night. Keith and his daughter were so cute, but he still put that tobacco plug in his mouth.

Phil was too funny when he grabbed the spoon of ice out of Jake's hand. It was a wonderful Phil moment.

Let me tell you, I would not mess with Wild Bill. I wouldn't be surprised if he took on a whole new crew.

Two hours next week for Captain Phil. That's going to be tough.

Indypotter, great camera work this year. The best its ever been.

Jonathan and Josh are going to be on Leno tonight. Hopefully, they'll post a clip because I can't stay up that late tonight.

Yeah. Josh was so upset that Jake wasn't following doctor's orders exactly. And that fight they had at the end of the episode . . .

Yes, it is. I didn't cry on this week's ep, but After the Catch got me at the beginning. Did you get to see it, Des? They had Josh and Freddy on there to talk a bit about Phil and the advice that Freddy gave Josh an episode or two ago. Freddy really got me.

Re: Deadliest Catch

No, I didn't get to see After the Catch. I watch at my Mom's and she goes to sleep early. I did see a little bit about Freddy's background. That was surprising.

Here's an interview Josh and Jonathan did for People Mag. It looks like Jonathan has really stepped up to help Josh. They've been together several times.

Live chat for Capt. Phil tonight here.

It will help to be chatting with other people.

Josh That scene with him and his dad in the hospital, when Phil apologized for not being the best dad and Josh told him what a great dad he'd been-- Watching this season has been really hard for me--I am sad for the Harris family, but it's also just way to close to home for me this year. But I thought they did a great job with this episode and After the Catch. They didn't focus on only the sadness but on what everyone loved about Phil.

Jonathan has really been there with both boys. It seems all the captains are looking out for them now--they talked about it on After the Catch yesterday. I hope you got to watch that one, Des--it was all about remembering Phil and celebrating him.

Re: Deadliest Catch

I'm beginning to wonder if any of the crews we have watched for the last few years will be back together next year! Edgar is talking about leaving , the Hillstrands are talking about quiting ,Wild Bill has not yet had a good season . Keith is fighting his addiction to chewing tobbaco . All in all it is going to be a very different show next season.

It's all very sad to me. These guys are not characters--they're real people, and I understand their reasoning, but I am still going to miss the Hillstrands and Edgar if they're not on the show next year. They've been there since the beginning and are some of the funniest people on the show.

Just read this interview with Josh over on EW.com. Some funny stuff in there, including a comment about Sig, Twitter and mullets.

Re: Deadliest Catch

The most compelling thing about Phil's last show was those horrendous waves in counterpoint to what the Harrises were going through at the end. I still cannot believe how well the producers handled this whole thing.

Watching after the catch and seeing those clips of Phil made me feel that he isn't really gone. I couldn't watch the whole thing, but I saw enough.

That interview with Josh was great. Thanks for posting that, Freelantzer.

Yes, it's definitely going to be a very different season next year. I think Jonathan and Andy are serious about quitting and Edgar looks awful. We'll see. Whatever happens, I'm watching.

Re: Deadliest Catch

I just watched the show where at the end Josh phones Jake to break the bad news and I'm just waisted .I knew it was comming but ,I thought that they wouldn't do it at the end of the hour .I thought that it would be the beginning of the next show so we could get to see how the other ships and crews would take it . I guess that the next show will be the reaction show .

The way they interwove that storm with Josh being called back to the hospital, then talking to the doctor, then him calling Jake ... unbelievable.

Yes, you'll see the reactions from the other crews in the next show. Some wonderful tributes from all of the boats.

After the Catch was devoted exclusively to Phil last night. His father spoke about him as well as childhood friends and crewmates from over the years. He was some guy. Not who I'd want my daughter to marry or even date, but one heckuvva guy nonetheless.

Man, that episode was even harder to watch than the previous one. Seeing all the reactions of the captains and crews --

This episode was amazing. What a great tribute to a great guy. It was kind of strange to see Phil when he was young because he looked a lot like my dad, who also passed this year at the same age. But it was a great hour of television; I loved hearing all about Phil from his friends and family.

EDIT:

This article explains about the split Harley Davidson gas tanks that Phils ashes were in. It talks about the different artwork and what it all represents.

This article explains why Keith rang the bell eight times (naval tradition) when setting that tribute pot.
