Re: The Simpsons

To me, it is being a bit greedy. They make a lot of money, and having a bit of a cut isn't that bad. I'm glad it got resolved though and that the show will be back.

And both sides are that way. Glad to see that the actors took a pay cut and things are resolved though .

The studio execs make a lot more and they don't create anything. Plus their jobs are much more secure than the actors and writers.

Yeah, true. Well, it's resolved though, so that's a good thing.

Yep. Anyone looking forward to this year's Halloween episode?

I am for the heck of it ...

Always - even though it's been quite a while since there was a great one.

I know, but at least it's still better than some of the other stuff that's on tv these days. Almost anything would be better . Speaking of which I just saw an old rerun of the Simpsons that I haven't seen in a long time... the one where Ned Flanders drove himself to the insane asylum ... I loved that one back in the day and it's still as funny now as it was then .

Re: The Simpsons

Yeah, I always like the Halloween ones. The classics are the best though.

Ah, yes, I remember that one. It was hilarious. I haven't seen much Simpsons during the day due to baseball. Ugh.

Re: The Simpsons

I prefer the first four or five Treehouse of Horror's to the newer ones. I've just seen the most recent one, with the board games, and Homer and Marge on the boat...how weird was that?

Re: The Simpsons

I think I saw that one, too. Like I said before, one of my favorites was The Shinning. I also liked the one with Bart's evil twin.

Yea that one was rather weird... I liked the board games one myself... really, really random.

I'm kind of curious to see what they can come up with for this season...

Re: The Simpsons

Well, they said that the Halloween eps will be aired on October 30th this year. I'm glad because usually they're aired in November, which defeats the purpose of having a Halloween episode.

Re: The Simpsons

I think that my favourite Treehouse of Horror segments are The Raven (from waaaay back in season 2, the first ToH), The Homega Man (just because it's funny seeing Homer dancing in church naked), The Monkey's Paw (I can do that but I don't wanna), The Devil and Homer Simpson and The Shinning

Least favourite- "Life's a Glitch and then you die", Master and Cadaver and Night of the Dolphin

Awesome !! Will mark that one down onto my calendar. On a side note, I'm also looking forward to all of the fun on the morning shows... some of the hosts on them dress up for Halloween ...

Here's one list of the best ToH segments.

Re: The Simpsons

Just saw two good episodes of the Simpsons recently... one a Halloween one with a spoof of E.T., amongst other stuff and the other was a take off of the X-Files ('The Springfield Files'). I liked both of them, but I really loved the latter episode. It was nice to see two of my favorite fandoms together...

Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and David (Mulder) and Gillian (Scully). Just priceless .

It was funny to see Mulder and Scully being played as the actors playing themselves playing the characters. The best part being that for once (during the old days)... I could hear what Mulder was saying... there was no mumbling .

Re: The Simpsons

Okay, that THOH was the WORST one I've seen. Only the second story seemed to be in the spirit of Halloween. The others just had no merit to them. Ugh.

Yea it did seem like they were lacking this year . Oh well. Didn't mind parts of the first one though . Making fun of that dear Spider-Man play... and I did laugh a bit at Ned, ala: Dexter.

Re: The Simpsons

Ah, so that's what it was spoofing. I see. It still wasn't as funny as it could have been.

Re: The Simpsons

It wasn't the worst Treehouse of Horror, IMO, but it was lackluster. I think the best segment was the second, the Dexter parody, the only one that felt like it belonged in a Halloween show. That's the way it's been for quite a while with these, though: most of the segments fall more in the "sci-fi" realm than anything like horror. I'd really like to see more horror-comedy segments again, like "The Shinning," "Dial Z for Zombie," "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace," "Bad Dream House," "Hell Toupee," etc. Of course, aside from the genre, I'd love to see more segments anywhere near that good.
