Re: Alan Rickman as Severus Snape v3

Yeah. He'll be fine. I am pretty sure about that - I'd even say that these scenes will finally stretch him a little .... Just look at the many things the man has done on film alone - and that's not even to take into account his huge theatrical CV. He's got a huge range, and seems to be excellent on almost anything he tries....

Mysticalness? Like mystery, deep meaning you mean? Yeah, he'll be brilliant I'm sure. He is a genius at characters that have depth to them. Emma Thompson has said he could make a milkman look mysterious (from the Sense and Sensibility DVD.)

He's a bit old for the character's age, but no one can deny his excellent portrayal as Severus. Alan is a talented actor, too. I first encountered him in Die hard, then Love actually and most recently is the evil judge in sweeney todd. It occurs to me that he seems to take part in every film I like.

Now that's impressive.
Yep he is pretty old now. I actually thought that that wig he wears to play Snape was real. Man, was I wrong. With it on he looks forty something.

IMO he really isn't THAT old...he's 62. He is the same age as Cher, lol. And he is younger than Harrison Ford-and look at him! People these days are ageing much later. I think some people are being mean, saying he is too old to play the part.
62 or 22, it doesn't change my affections for him...

Yeah he deffinitly looks young enough to play the part. I'm glad he did too because he plays Snape perfectly. Can anyone think of a better person to play Snape? I sure can't.

Re: Alan Rickman as Severus Snape v3

Alan Rickman was JK Rowling's first choice for Snape.
And it was a brilliant choice. (He's my fave too)

AR knew very early from Rowling that Snape had been in love with Lily.
And he understood where this bitterness towards Harry came from, who's the living example of Lily's preference for James.

But I think it kinda affected one performance (one I can think of) which is in PoA where Lupin turns into a werewolf in the move.
I posted my opinions HERE, so I don't wanna type it again

Although there's so little screentime for Snape in the 5 movies total, but he made each appearance count

Nah , ya don't... I would be feeling the same way if I'd met my favorite actor.

I only got to speak to him for a few seconds, but it was amazing. He is so lovely he was listening to everyone's questions carefully and giving everyone really well-thought out advice and stuff. I asked him about women trying to find jobs in the industry, because earlier on he mentioned something about how women get judged more than men because of their looks and things, and I asked him how can actresses make people look past that, and he just basically said work hard and show them your talent, show them what you're made of and make sure you bring your own personality out. I will keep that advice with me forever!

Some people asked really stupid questions, like one guy asked 'Who would win in a fight between Hans Gruber and the Sheriff of Nottingham?' and he just looked at him funny and said '...well Hans Gruber had a gun.'

Classic!

I am not into celebrities or famous actors at all but he is an actor I would be genuinely delighted to meet. Such an intelligent man and he seems very balanced and self-effacing.

I am so jealous of you Lynz! You're so lucky!

I think that one of the reasons I love Alan so much is that I always feel at ease with his acting. I know that he will always give a brilliant performance, especially as Snape and he has made the most of the little screen time that he's been given. I can't wait to see him in the next three films. He is just pure awesome!
