Pellinor

hello, this thread is to discuss the pellinor-saga. As i read it in german im a bit behind. Im sure all the english readers know already how it ends.
Yet, for everybody who likes the series and has not finished it yet I created this thread.
My questions are: Why does the Elidhu-blood affect Maerad more than Hem?
What will happen when the two halves of the song are joyned together.
Does Sharma really suffer great pain?

Re: Pellinor

I've read the Pellinor series, and I think it's pretty good. I'm anxious to find out what's going to happen, though I do have a few ideas about what I think will occur.

I don't think the last book has come out yet, but I believe it is due out soon. I think it's called The Singing.

Well, Hem does have an encounter with an Elidhu during his time at the underground city (I forget the name, it's been a while since I read the books); and when he's at the child soldier camp, that same being contacts him a couple of times.

Re: Pellinor

oh, i thought The singing is out already... I ordered it second hand by amazon and ill get it between the 6th and 13th of october.

Was the name of the elidhu Nyanar?
I thought more of the character: maerad shows much more an elidhu-behavior, she can be really extreme.
Did you understand why Ardina can be an elidhu of the forest as well as the daughter of the moon??

Re: Pellinor

I love this series! I always wait to buy them in paperback, though, so it'll be a while before I get The Singing, but I own the other three. I re-read them during the summer so that I would be up-to-date when I read The Crow, and I was reminded why I love them so much. ^_^

Cheers,
Jen

Re: Pellinor

Has anyone read the last book in the series, The Singing? If so, what did you think? Were you satisfied with the ending? Is there anything you think the author could have done differently?

Re: Pellinor

I was fascinated by Maerad in this book. Yet, I had hoped Croggon had developed the idea of the Elidhu further and had explained more about arkans or ardinas motives.

Re: Pellinor

I've read the first two, and they're pretty good. But even though I'm following the series, it strikes me as another Lord of the Rings wannabe series, and I've forgotten a lot of the plot and I'll have to read them again before I start the next one. But even though I see them as another LOTR wannabe, they're well written and I enjoy them a lot. Kinda like the Inheritance Trilogy, at which I sometimes roll my eyes at the obvious rips from LOTR but still enjoy them. Also reminds me of those Blue Bloods books, which are total Gossip Girl rip-offs with vampires to try to appeal to the Twilight fans (except the Blue Bloods books actually have real plots and have research behind them).

That being said, a lot of books rip off other ideas, and I don't usually hold it against a series if the story's still good and the books are well written, like Pellinor, which has the added bonus of having a female lead. I love it when fantasy (excluding Twilight, which I see as a romance novel) has female leads...probably because I'm a girl and it's just easier to relate to them.

Re: Pellinor

I've finished the first and the second I think and they were quite good, but I do believe that I can't remember a lot of them, but that they were well written. I remember crying when I thought that Cadvan had died in The Riddle.
