8. Interview with the Vampire- Anne Rice
Well what the title says.. its a vampire telling his life story more or less.

Oh, wow! I had forgotton about The Westing Game and Dealing with Dragons! I can't believe I forgot about two great books like those! I loved those. I read them in elementary school from the school library. I can't remember exactly what Dealing With Dragons was about -- I only remember that it was really good. And I must admit that I had no idea who did what in The Westing Game . . . I'm no good at solving mysteries or anything. That's why I read to find out!

Oh, yeah, there's another favorite book of mine called The Two Princesses of Bamarre, or something, by Gail Carson Levine. It was a cliche princess story with quests, swords, dragons, prophecies, heroes, etc. but I loved it! I wish it was a series.

Re: Top 10 Fav Fiction Books

I guess you'd have to divide them for me.

so-called Juvenile to Young Adult fiction.

1. Roald Dahl's fiction (emphasis on Mathilda)

2. The Harry Potter Series

3. Robin McKinley's work--Damar Chronicles ahead of the others but Sunshine is tasty as well.

4. Tamora Pierce's Tortall series (Protector of the Small Quartet and Beka Cooper Trilogy slightly ahead of the Immortals Quartet)

5. The Chronicles of Narnia by Lewis

6. The Prydain Chronicles by Alexander

7. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli (I often imagine the Maniac going on to stardom at Penn State in Joe Pa's system)

8. Victoria Hanley's fantasy fiction--specifically The Seer & the Sword

And then it gets hard for me to choose. I might insert the Westing Game and The Headless Cupid as placeholders.

Honorable Mention--Aiken's Wolves Chronicles (I am indescribably saddened that I'll never find out how Dido Twite got out of that last scrape)

and the Time Quntet--yeah, there are actually five of them, including Many Waters and An Acceptable Time. For some reason, my favorite scene is probably from A Wind At the Door, when Charles Wallace starts first grade--giving a mini-dissertation on mitochondria and his twit of a teacher thinks he's making it up.

Re: Top 10 Fav Fiction Books

I could only go up to five! I've read a lot of books, but I'm too picky. So, in order:

1. Harry Potter series
2. Gemma Doyle trilogy
3. Inheiritance Cycle
4. His Dark Materials
5. Night

Re: Top 10 Fav Fiction Books

These are in no particular order.

1. Animal Farm- George Orwell
This was a very intriguing novel. I loved the personification and just Orwell's eloquence.

2. Lost Horizon-James Hilton
This was a very thought-provoking book about a Utopian society. Had a terrible ending though, but was still pretty good.

3. A Silent Peace- I cannot remember who wrote this. Most of my peers hated this book, but it had a very deep meaning and was particularly interesting.

4.Wir Kinder aus Bullerbü- Astrid Lingdren
This is a German children's book. I received a coy from like 4 different relatives on 4 different occaisions. It was a really nice book when I was young.

5. A Tale of Two Cities- Charles Dickens
What can I say? This is a classic and my favorite Dickens novel. Plus I love the beginning sentence.

6. Romeo and Juliet- William Shakespeare
My definite favorite Shakespeare work. I first read this when I was 9 years old and it has stuck with me ever since. The thought of such undying love between two such feuding families, its amazing!

7. Harry Potter Series- JK Rowling
Need I say more???

8. Dracula- Bram Stoker
Oh, I just love this one. Very captivating and interesting.

9. Series of Unfortunate Events Series- Lemony Snicket
This series alwasy kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldnt wait to find out what happened next. It a great series, although I hated the end.

10. Tomorrow Series: John Marsden
I just love this series. It really keeps your attention and I couldnt wait to see what happened next. Its a very tragic and traumatic series though.

Re: Top 10 Fav Fiction Books

Okay, quick question.

What does TTYL stand for?

In Dickens--I like Oliver Twist and Bleak House. I haven't yet read Tale of Two Cities.

I suppose I find Dracula quite intersting, but it wouldn't go in my top 10--perhaps I hold a grudge for the bad vampire movies that used/destroyed its material.

For Shakespeare--Everything I've read except the early histories and Love's Labor Lost is quite intriguing. I shout-laughed through one excellent Stratford production of Comedy of Errors (it was on tape in a college library--the nun running the place thought I'd lost my mind).
