Re: What did you correctly predict?

Was right about Snape and the discussion/fight he had with Dumbledore and that Dumbledore asked him to kill him etc.

During reading, was convinced the doe was Snape's. Didn't think it was Lily's though. That was a surprise.

Didn't see Harry as a Horcrux coming though.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I predicted that Malfoy wouldn't be evil at all, and those obvious things like Ron and Hermione. Also, I correclty previewed that Neville would be the one to become a teacher, and, what I was most surprisingly right, we learned more about Grindelwald just like I had wondered a few days before buying the book.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I did state that a big battle would be at the school. I knew the trio would live. Years before, on a book tour JKR was approched by a little kid who asked if the trio would surviiv. She said yes! I belelived that the word Hallows meant objects and I was right. I was mislead by the horcux. I thought Hallows would be that. Towards the end, I did believe that something would happen to Ginny. I got the sense that JKR would kill somone off for shock value (it was Fred). I just knew that Snape was good, just did not know how it would play out.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Just from reading this forum and all the ideas everyone had I wasn't surprised by hardly anything in the book!

The major one I was sure of myself though was that Harry was indeed a horcrux.

Ron and Hermione. Aberforth as the Hog's Head barman.

Personally, I was certain Harry was going to die. I was really surprised when he didn't.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

What I predicted:

--Snape was on the good side. I never doubted that Snape was good.
--Ron and Hermione getting together (that was quite obvious though...)
--Harry and Ginny getting together (also obvious)
--R.A.B. being Regulus Black.
--Harry living.
--Lupin dying.

There were more of the little things that I predicted and guessed would happen, but those were the only big events that I predicted.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Prior to getting the book, I actually made little notes on my iPod of my theories as to what I thought would happen in book 7. Here's a couple of the theories I wrote that came out to be true (Note: Don't laugh at the complete nerdiness! ):

Like I said above though, I finished reading Half-Blood Prince today (just in time for the release)! Yeah, it got my mind storming with speculation as to what’s going to happen next – or atleast, what I think might happen next. Some theories I have are these:

1) Dumbledore IS dead, and he helped plan it with Snape. I think he knew what had to be done (his death). The whole scene where Hagrid is telling the trio he overheard a conversation where Snape was telling DD he “didn’t want to do it anymore.” I think points to this. Also, I think during his final seconds alive, when DD was saying “Snape..please” I don’t think he was begging for his life, but rather saying it in a way that meant. “Snape, you know what you have to do – now please, do it already.”

2) Snape is good and will end up helping Harry in his final battle against Voldemort. I think clues that point to this are the Occulemy lessons Harry took with Snape, and the Half-Blood Prince book Harry received in book 6. Both of these instances seem to show Snape helping Harry in some way. The Occulemy lessons was Snape’s attempt at helping Harry close his mind off to the Dark Lord and the whole Half-Blood Prince book that Harry used in his potions class that was really Snape’s helped Harry significantly in class. There is also a scene in book 6 where Snape helps Harry get into Hogwarts in the beginning of book 6 after being late that also stresses my theory.

3) Hogwarts will re-open. How else will characters like Neville and Luna be able come about? I ultimately don’t think Harry will actually return (I hope he does though) but he should be visiting frequently I believe.
Yeah, so there you have it. So I guess that would make me right on -The DD death being planned, -Snape was actually good and -Hogwarts reopening - although I was wrong about the frequent visits. That must of been my wishful thinking

Re: What did you correctly predict?

1)Kreacher having been to the cave.
2)Regulus being RAB.
3)Snape being good, and having some sort of plan with Dumbledore.
4)Ginny with Harry and Hermione with Ron.
5)One of the twins dying.

But I really REALLY didn't believe Harry was the seventh Horcrux. Damn.

Oh and I also didn't believe those who said Snape loved Lily. Double damn.

Thanks to Mrs. Rowling's webpage update I can only believe Hermione is hot

Re: What did you correctly predict?

  • Harry sacrificing himself
  • Harry and Ginny getting together
  • Ron and Hermione getting together
  • Snape dying
  • Draco redeeming himself
  • Dumbledore having a bad side and past
  • The missing Horcruxes being the tiara and Harry (kinda)
  • The Deathly Hallows being not the Horcruxes but things (Ok I said persons) with special power who will help Harry to defeat Voldemort

Re: What did you correctly predict?

-That Snape was good
-That R.A.B was Regulus Black
-The locket at 12 Grimmauld Place was the Slytherin Locket.
-Snape would die.
-Lupin and Wormtail both would die.
-Harry not dying.
-A Weasley would die (I knew one of them would die, though the one I predicted lived...that being Percy)
-Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny
-Dumbledore's wand would be important.
-Draco redeeming himself in some way.

That's about all I can think about as far as theories go. I didn't write them all down or put them in one place so I'm rambling off the top of my head here.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Everything about Snape.
A death in the weasley family. (which I sobbed about.)
Ron and Hermione
Percy admitting he was wrong
R/Hr dancing at the Wedding
Hermione being tortured because of Malfoy. (He did confirm it was Her, when he could have lied to them.)

Re: What did you correctly predict?

The ones I was most proud of:

-Snape was loyal to Dumbledore.

-How will Harry say goodbye to the Dursleys?
The goodbyes from the Durleys would be awkward, similar to the goodbyes in GoF. “Well, this is it. See you, I guess.”

-Percy will make amends. (I cheered out loud when he cam back!)

-No one else was present the night of Lily and James’s deaths.

I hate that I said that Dumbledore’s defeat of Grindevald would have no significance, and that Harry was not a Horcrux.

Ron and Hermione in Deathly Hallows

Dobby's large, pointed ears were now sticking out from beneath what looked like all the hats Hermione had ever knitted; he
was wearing one on top of the other, so that his head seemed elongated by two or three feet, and on the very topmost
bobble sat Hedwig, hooting serenely and obviously cured.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Snape being one of the good guys. Snape and Lily. Harry living. Ron and Hermione. And JKR giving us an amazing, satisfying, perplexing, sad, funny enchanting story. Thanks Jo!

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I was quite shocked at how much we all got right, were normally way off lol. sometimes it was like reading a fanfiction haha. ive been telling everyone for 2 years that Snape was good and loved Lily and ive been saying 'told you so!!' when ever i get the chance i got right:
Dumbledores death being planned, with Snapes help
R.A.B and locket being at grim place
ships like H/R, G/H
Aberforth showing importance
Neville becoming Herbology teacher

Thats all i can think of at the moment on the top of my head.
I was completely wrong about Harry not being a Horcrux though... well you cant get it all right lol

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Well, I was convinced that Snape was trustworthy, and that turned out to be true.

Otherwise, I had mostly agreed with other people's suspicions like about who RAB was and that Neville would become a teacher. I did sort of suspect that Umbridge would come back with a vengeance, but that was only a very vague suspicion, not really a prediction...

Peace and love.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Right about RAB's identity (it was obvious though)
Right about Neville becoming professor of Herbology (was also too obvious)
Right about Snape loving Lily (as much as I didn't want to believe it)

Wrong about everything else

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Well i had two theories over the book.

for the first i was right about:
Harry and Ginny
Ron and Hermione
RAB... but who wasnt
Dobby, Lupin, Mad-Eye, and a twin dying
The diadem's identity and location
Battle @ Hogwarts

my second theory now was a little off
I was right about everyone who died because
honest to god i was afraid JK would pull a tragedy outta her hat
and kill pretty much everyone except for Harry.
That coulda been a bit depressing...

That, and the fact that Harry wouldn't die. Would've been way too morbid.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Trio survived

Harry was a Horcrux

Snape was good (ie. Dumbledore's death was pre-arranged)

Harry won by technicality rather than pure skill/power

Harry would sacrifice himself but live

Draco and Narcissa's semi-betrayal against Voldemort
