In the book, the spiders legs fell off, in the movie it was rollerblades, funnyer, see they can change things and make things funnier, Yes I loved the added scenes, but annoying that they did that instead of showing what needed to be there.

The Yule Ball was a nice depiction in GoF and I always liked the way they showed the Owlery.
And I'm in total agreement with the fans of the Buckbeak flight scene in PoA. I'm such a sucker for cinematics!

I loved the buckbeak scenes in PoA, but I loved the Yule Ball scenes equally, they were really something. With such complex sets and costumes. I just love the entire atmosphere of the movie

Too many to count, though I can't recall everything now.

COS - the way Ginny reacted after she woke up after Harry defeated Tom Riddle and the scene following involving her parents in a classroom. I liked it so much better than how the movie ended it up.

POA - pretty much everything that was different between the book and film - I liked the book way better.

Do you prefer the books or the films?

In thisthread you can explain and discuss whith others what you think of a certain book or a certain film!!! what parts do you like? what parts dont you like?

I will start

In thew latest film, I think that the underwater scene is amazing! the underwater creatures look so realistic! It must have taken hours to shoot the whole thing!!!!!

do you think that the underwater scene is good? or do you think that the book is better? What is your favorite part of one of the boooks or films?

I prefer reading the books, as you can whisk yourself off into the world of Harry Potter and Co.

When i'm reading, it's almost like i'm actually there with them.

I love the books because theres alot more explanation about everything. The movei leave so much out, that the people that dont read the books but only watch the movies wont understand whats going on.

The Books.

There is so much more going on in the books. The different stories take precedence at different times and make it more interesting than bang bang bang plot flashing before your eyes. In the books you can control the speed yourself and mull over perticular parts that seem important (e.g. whenever Dumbledore spoke).

I like them both and think they are both very good. My favorite book is OOTP and my favorite movie so far is GOF.

i really like and enjoy the movies...but since there is so much more going on in the books (since the movies have a time limit and need to edit or cutout a lot of things), i'd have to say the books.

i'm really looking forward to the OOTP movie! book 5 was one of my top faves of the series!

The books definitly. I like the movies, but there's so much more going on in the books and a lot more detail than in the movies.

I prefer problably every scene in the books than the movies. Its just because Rowling is so good a writer, no director can match it on screen.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I much prefer the books. The movies have to leave things out, and in PoA, they ruined the characterisation of Ron and Hermione.
To comment on the underwater scene in GoF. It was my favourite task and I agree it was well done. However the movie was not as good as the book. In the book Harry knew he had to save Ron as Dobby told him when he gave him the Gillyweed. However in the movie, Harry was never told whom or what he was after.
I did love seeing Krum with the shark's head though. That was a great visual.

I prefer the books, definitely. The movies are just a nice addition. It is fun to actually see the places and people of the Potterverse on the big screen.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I would have to say the books, just because my imagination can do so much more than movie technology can. However, I like the movies almost as much.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I really like the books better. The movies are good but sometimes they leave key things out which i'm not so keen on.. (example: they never mentioned anything about the Mauraders PoA..) But i suppose they had time limits but it still irks me. =] But also i agree with strangemuggle i like to use my imagination more.. the films are still quite amazing though.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

I prefer the books much more than the movies. I doubt I would be interested in watching the movies at the cinema if it weren't for the books.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?

Since I can only compare the first four...

Sorcerer's Stone - tie. I think the book so closely followed the script that what they left out or what changes they made really didn't make that much difference.

Chamber of Secrets - book. The movie was okay but the book had some much more interesting scenes that weren't in the movie. One in particular that I like is after they get out of the Chamber of Secrets, the scene that follows in the classroom where Arthur and Molly are there.

Prisoner of Azkaban - BOOK!!! The movie was such a disappointment.

Goblet of Fire - movie. The book bored me to tears for most of it, the movie kept my attention.
