Re: His Dark Materials

I've never read Lyra's Oxford at all either. I know it's a very short book, so I probably wouldn't want to read something I could read in a day. I like books that keep me reading for a few days.

I know. I feel the same way. I want to know what it's about and if it's any good.

It took me less than an hour to read it, I think. I don't remember what it was about, it must be because I didn't find it very interesting.

Re: His Dark Materials

Hmmm. Then maybe I wouldn't want to read it. As I said, I love books that keep me reading for more than just a day. By that I mean books that are so short I can read them in a day, which looks like Lyra's Oxford is. So, I probably won't read it. Then again, I did read Tales of Beedle the Bard and that took me a day to read. I think just because it was something from the HP series, and I liked it.

I know. I probably won't read it at all. I heard it's not that good from one of my friends who has the book.

Re: His Dark Materials

I thought that Lyra's Oxford was an interesting little read. I enjoyed it more than Beedle The Bard.

Re: His Dark Materials

I haven't read Lyra's Oxford yet, but I did read Once Upon a Time in the North and I thought it was as good as the original trilogy. Everyone should definitely check it out. I'd have liked a longer book, of course, but other than that I don't have any complaints at all.

Re: His Dark Materials

I've never heard of Once Upon A Time in the North. Is it a sort of continuation of the trilogy?

Re: His Dark Materials

Its pretty new. It is the story of how Lee Scoresby and Iorek met.

I've read both and I liked them. Its been a while since I read Lyra's Oxford but, from what I remember, it was an interesting story.

Yeah, that sounds awesome. Is it a short book or long?

Re: His Dark Materials

It is somewhere in between. It is a pretty detailed story but a bit of an easy read. Personally the first time I read it took a little less time then it takes me to read SS/PS.

But if your a fan of Lee you probably should read it. It gives many interesting details to his character.

Re: His Dark Materials

It would be interesting to read about him. Sounds neat. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of his though. I like his character, but not enough for me to say I'm a fan.

Re: His Dark Materials

I've read the triology and I really liked them. I thought the first book was the best and then it kind of went downhill from there...Not that the last books weren't good, they just weren't as good as the first I don't like books with unhappy endings by the way, it just feels wrong. So when I was finished I was disappointed, but hey, that's just me Other than that I really liked HDM

I borrowed Lyra's Oxford from the library once but I dont' think I brought myself to read it...

Re: His Dark Materials

The ending for the first one shocked me, and then I was shocked when Will and Lyra had to part. I think it would be cool if they reunited again. That would be really cool.
