David Thewlis as Remus Lupin

Well, since are there threads on the wonderful Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman, I did a search, expecting to find one on David Thewlis, but there isn't one!!
Since this is such a horrible crime, I will overcome my shock for one second to start this thread.
I guess it can be used to talk about him in Prisoner of Azkaban, him in future movies (Harry Potter or otherwise), him in other movies he's done, etc. etc.
I haven't actually seen him in too much, but I adored him as Professor Lupin and think he did a wonderful job. I am also eagerly anticipating seeing him in Kingdom of Heaven.
I guess, to start off this thread, I'll ask a few questions:
What are your favourite/least favourite movies of his?
Did you like him as Professor Lupin?
Well, that's all I can think of for now, so I'll just say that if anyone wants to post any news about him, they can do that too.
Happy posting!

Yay! Excellent idea! I personally thought David Thewlis did an excellent job as Lupin.

I am going to go tell the rest of the Lupinites about this thread!

ha ha, this is completely brilliant

I've only seen David Thewlis in PoA and Seven Years in Tibet (well, Timeline as well, but that doesn't really count ), and I'd love to see more of his work! Anyone have any recommendations for things that I might easily be able to find in a video rental store?

I've seen Thewlis in PoA, Seven Years in Tibet, and Dinotopia. I remember when I saw him on Dinotopia (after I saw him in PoA), I yelled, "OMG! That's Professor Lupin!"
I think he did a superb job as Lupin.
BTW what happened to the B-day card we were sending him?

I actually loved hating David in Dragonheart--he starred with Dennis Quaid, et al. When his character killed his own mother, Queen Aislinn, arghhh!!!! I loved him as Remus--I wish we could have seen more of him in the movie actually-- !!
He, like Gary Oldman, makes a really good "bad guy"...the worst I've seen was The Ilse of Dr. Moreau...ugh...not that he was bad, but that movie was just weird...reminded me of the book The Lord of the Flies--weird!

I am looking forward to seeing him in Kingdom of Heaven!

He's not going to be in GoF is he? I mean, Lupin wasn't really in the GoF book except when mentioned by the Trio.

I'm not sure what happened to the birthday card idea.

No, if they're cutting out people like the Dursley's and Mrs. Weasley, most unfortunately, he will not be in it
I also can't wait to see Kingdom....it looks great!
About the birthday card thing, ByTheMoony told me that she was going to be sending him a letter with a link to the site, so I can only assume she did so.

You didn't like the 'tache? Ahhhh, no...I think some Lyceum members likened it to a dead catipillar or some such...I don't mind face-fur, unless it's on a female... I think David has a 'tache in Kingdom of Heaven, too!

Ah, the controversial mustache. As an overall look it fit with the old style costume and hair, but it just wasn't... Lupin. But yes he was great in it

The film I most want to see him in is Total Eclipse. I haven't seen it yet, but if you know anything about me you'll know exactly why I want to see it

I loved him and Gary so much in the POA dvd interview, they seemed so Moony and Padfoot, you know? Like just the way they interacted, it was so easy to see the characters' friendship in them too.

I've only seen David in PoA and Timeline, but I really hope to see him in Kingdom of Heaven and Seven Years in Tibet.

I don't mind the 'tache- though when I first saw it, I did object to it. I think Thewlis was brilliant in PoA.

I'm excited for Kingdom of Heaven as well! Yet more opportunities for David to eclipse even his more well-known costars (as he does, at least in my mind, with Brad Pitt in Tibet).

I thought he was a perfect Lupin! I had my doubts, like everyone else, but it only took me that first scene with him on the train to realize that this guy wasn't going to be so bad after all, and the boggart class had me completely sold. Kudos to whoever decided that he shouldn't be Quirrell in SS/PS so that we could enjoy him as Lupin!

I can't remember exactly why, but I totally freaked out (in a good way) over his hands in Timeline For those of you who haven't seen Timeline, he wasn't a major character but he left an impression on me nonetheless. It was those hands!

ha ha. . . I've definitely heard more than one person rave about his hands

I almost felt bad for him in Timeline. . . not his character, just the fact that he was in such a mediocre movie. I guess you can't win 'em all.

It was a good book, but the movie . I'm really looking forward to Kingdom of Heaven though. I hear he plays Orlando's mentor. That had better mean lots of screen time!

He plays a character named Hospitaller, and he does have face-fur--just had to go peek at the trailor...can't wait to see it!

he looks delightfully scruffy, and him and Orlando together...well let's just say I can't wait
oh, and Liam Neeson!! yay!!
Oh, and random side note: did anyone know that Brendan Gleeson (aka Mad Eye Moody) is also in Kingdom of Heaven? I didn't!
