Septimus Heap

Has anyone read the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage? There are three books in the series so far, the first of which is called "Magyk."

I have read them, and my son, who is in 3rd grade, is really enjoying them too. It is about a family of Wizards (not like Harry Potter wizards at all) and a Princess. There is a character called Marcia, who is the ExtraOrdinary Wizard. There are boggarts (again, not like Harry Potter boggarts), witches, ghosts, and all sorts of fun things. It has been a nice series to pick up after the end of Harry.

Re: Septimus Heap

Yeah I've read the lot. I'm enjoying the series but for me it lacks a central villain/overriding theme. Dom Daniels is so weak even the author seems to have given up on him.

But still a fun read and an amusing series.

Re: Septimus Heap

Yes, I have to agree, the villains in all three books are weak, and it bothers me that there is a central "trio."

Re: Septimus Heap

I've read all of the Septimus Heap books out so far, and they are really good! I read Magyk last year, and about three months after that I bought Flyte, and when I went to Hawaii for my cousin's wedding this summer I bought Physik. The next book is called Queste, and I can't [i]wait[i] for it to come out!

Do you know when it is due to come out? I'm so glad they come out in rather rapid sequence, we've just gotten started on the series, and I hate waiting!

Re: Septimus Heap

I have to say the first book put me off a bit, I think the characters were a bit weak and the pace of the novel was slow. Before I found books like Spook App and Elements of Lore, I was reading them to fill the void of potter, but now I am re-reading my top 10 books (HP only counts as 1 lol), the otehrs are LOTR, Eragon, The Elements of Lore, Artemis Fowl and I haven't decied the otehrs yet...Hmmmm what a nice decision to make though hey???

My daughter was absolutely dumbfounded by the twist. She just couldn't believe it.

Re: Septimus Heap

I've read the first two, but a really long time ago, so i'm kind of out of touch. I've forgotten quite a bit of it, sadly. But I really did like the first two, they were cute and really fun to read. I just got the third from the library 2 days ago, so I'm going to start reading it soon. I might have to brush up on the first two tho, so I don't find myself totally confused... wikipedia, here I come!

Re: Septimus Heap

I quite like the Septimus Heap books. I think Physic was the best, but Queste is very close...

The only thing about them I don't like is that I think that they are too obvious. Like in the first book, when I guessed who Boy 409 was almost the escond we met him, or in Queste when I, after a few chapters, could tell the plot of the book almost exactly like it turned out. They make my top 10 fantasy books, anyway.

And according to Wikipedia, the fifth book, Syren, will be published in the UK on September 7 2009, and the US edition is expected around the end of August/beginning of September 2009.

Yes, hence the user ID. By the way, my website is still down because of the web host I'm using... it will be back up on the 29th (apparently)

Wouldn't it be cool if I could play Snorri in the third movie? (if there is one) because I bet you in the following books Snorri will kiss Nicko...
*sticks head in the clouds and daydreams*

There is also going to be a new book Syren (coming out Sept/Oct/Nov 2009) and an add-on called The Magykal Papers (April 2009).

I found this out via emails from the author herself! I've got 8 emails now!

That's cool, e-mailing with the author! Wish I did!

Are you really writing via email with Angie? I am also writing things via email with Angie.
I am the one who first put Queste, Syren and Magykal Papers on Wikipedia, before any other sites (including HarperCollins!)
