World in Conflict (PC)

Anyone here played WiC? A beautifully crafted war game based on a 'What if...' scenario of the Soviet Union launching an invasion of Europe and the West Coast of the United States in 1989.

Plot from wikipedia (spoiler alert at link):

The player controls the game's silent protagonist Lieutenant Parker of the United States Army. At the beginning of the game he is stationed in Seattle at the onset of a Soviet invasion in the time frame of the Cold War. Through the course of the game, Parker is promoted to the rank of Captain.

The missions are incredibly intense and the level of destruction you can rain down on the area of battle is huge. Practically anything can be destroyed. The game is helped by the use of ]url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct3D#Direct3D_10]DX10[/url], which adds to the playing experience a lot.

My only minor criticism is that there aren't enough missions. I completed the game within a day on normal setting, but it's likely to be one of those games that is expanded on quite quickly. Here's hoping!

I played the beta, I didn't really like it though.

Played the demo and wasn't impressed. Company of Heroes does what it does and, in my opinion, does it better.

It is not "I think, therefore I am" but rather "I am, therefore I think."
