No, really; I've heard it's a part of the show. Was it under your seat?

Re: Monty Python

Hehe, I got my little niece to do that invisible horse riding thing from the Holy Grail. There's two things I love about that movie:

1. The killer rabbit. It looks so innocent in the beginning, and Tim the Enchanter just kept looking foolish as he explained the true nature of the beast. Then out of nowhere it just flies up and darts toward the first knight. Plus that serious music kicks in and makes the scene all the more hilarious.

2. The Black Knight. The green knight at one point finally lost it and ran towards him with an axe, making such an unsuspecting funny scream along the way. Also the black knight fighting King Arthur was kind of goofy as he kept missing hitting Arthur completely.

A thread on Monty Python? How have I not found this yet...

Favourite moments: "And then you eat the banana", the French taunting + the French Rabbit, the Knights who say "Ni", the dead parrot skit... well, I have too many. That said, I love the Holy Grail and And Now For Something Completely Different the most.

John Cleese is my favourite. "And then you eat the banana" just did it for me. I remember watching with my dad once, and he couldn't stop laughing for ten minutes straight to the point of not being able to breathe... and it was infectious.

I saw Spamalot a year ago, and oh boy was it the funniest play I've ever seen. I thought it was just priceless when they brought out the piano and he started playing the Hockey Night in Canada tune (cause this was in Toronto). And then the audience member that went up was knighted "Sir Tim Hortons", hahaha. I loved it. And I got myself a "Fetchez la vache!" shirt, and a pin that says "I fart in your general direction!" - both from one of my all-time favourite skits.

Re: Monty Python

Spamalot has just come to Australia and hoping to be able to see it. I got a Black Knight doll/toy thing the other day and you can pull all of it's arms and legs off. It's just a flesh wound!

Re: Monty Python

I've only seen Holy Grail and Life of Brian, which I really liked. Grail is my favourite though, the Killer rabbit is the best... the way it just flies through the air when you're not expecting it. And of course, the Black Knight is awesome... I remember watching it in year seven, I was one of three people who actually found it funny... one of those three was the teacher, the other was the kid that brought it in... Just browsing the best quotes...

The Witch: I'm not a witch I'm not a witch!
Sir Bedevere: But you are dressed as one
The Witch: *They* dressed me up like this!
Crowd: We didn't! We didn't...
The Witch: And this isn't my nose. It's a false one.
Sir Bedevere: [lifts up her false nose] Well?
Peasant 1: Well, we did do the nose.
Sir Bedevere: The nose?
Peasant 1: And the hat, but she is a witch!
Crowd: Yeah! Burn her! Burn her!
Sir Bedevere: Did you dress her up like this?
Peasant 1: No!
Peasant 3, Peasant 2: No!
Peasant 3: No!
Peasant 1: No!
Peasant 3, Peasant 2: No!
Peasant 1: Yes!
Peasant 2: Yes!
Peasant 1: Yeah a bit.
Peasant 3: A bit!
Peasant 1, Peasant 2: A bit!
Peasant 2: a bit
Peasant 1: But she has got a wart!
Random Person: *cough* *cough*

Lol, I love that scene.

Re: Monty Python

I just got the whole TV show on DVD, soooo hilarious!

Especially the dead parrot sketch....

"C: Look, I took the liberty of examining that parrot when I got it home, and I discovered the only reason that it had been sitting on its perch in the first place was that it had been NAILED there....

O: No no! 'E's pining!

C: 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker!

'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!

'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig!

'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!

THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!"

And then there's the philosophers playing football, the twit race, Hell's Grannies...so many great ones.

Re: Monty Python

I've been watching The Holy Grail on youtube, it's still hilarious after all of these years.

There's this part where it's all animation and the knights are running away from the monster. The narrator says something like: "just like when it looked like sheer death for the knights, suddenly the animator suffered a horrific stroke!"

lol then it showed some guy in a chair who yelped, then fell backward very fast.

I love Monty Python. Funniest show ever. I love how random it is (fish slapping dance anyone?).

Seriously, these men are geniuses. I love the movies too.

The Fish Slapping Dance is one of the best bits of randomness ever!

Re: Monty Python

I love Monty Python's Flying Circus! The Spanish Inquisition skit is, of course, one of my favorites. And then the lumberjack song is great. I also enjoyed the mouse parties skit a lot.

The guy in the chair was Terry Gilliam, Python animator and co-director of Grail.

Re: Monty Python

Monty Python=sheer comic brilliance like nothing else I've seen, it's great for so much more than raising giggles. And I haven't seen Spamalot- a situation I'll have to try to fix soon.

Re: Monty Python

Monty Python is so awesome! I've been on youtube for like two hours today watching their skits. My favorites ones are the one where the guy wants to report a burglary, the one at the cheese shop, and the spanish inquisition.

Re: Monty Python

Spanish Inquisition. !!

Also, the Ministry of Funny Walks, and the one in "And Now for Something Completely Different" with the dead Parrot. I nearly fell off my seat at that one. "This is a late parrot!!! If you hasn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up daisies!"

I love the other names considered for the show's title:

- Owl Stretching Time
- The Toad Elevating Moment
- Vaseline Review
- Bun, Wackett, Buzzard, Stubble and Boot

Re: Monty Python

I was watching The LAte Late Show's best funny moments the other night, and I nearly fell off my seat to find John Cleese noted as being an exceptionally great contributor.

They aired a segment of a night he came on the show- post 1970, and the question of "Silly Walks" came up.

He tried to demonstrate one or two of them, only to discover that he was not quite as spry as he had once been...

I honestly couldn't eat dinner, I was giggling so hard.
