Hogwarts School Online: Live the Magic

Love Harry Potter? Ever wanted to work at Hogwarts? Does teaching magic sound like the perfect job?

Welcome to Hogwarts School Online.

Hogwarts School Online incorporates forum-based roleplay with a new and unique twist. At HSO, we’ve developed graphic navigation; that is, instead of clicking forum names to get from one location to the next, you can simply navigate the site using graphics – and roleplay along the way. It truly is an amazing experience.

This innovation and creativity is what makes Hogwarts School Online the most inclusive, complete, advanced, and exciting Harry Potter website on the internet. It is also what inspires HSO staff members to develop the most enriching wizarding environment for the enjoyment of its users.

Are you interested?

Hogwarts School Online is currently seeking active, mature, imaginative, enthusiastic, and devoted individuals who wish to help make Hogwarts School Online the greatest Harry Potter forum-based website ever created.

We are currently hiring for a number of Professor positions, with the opportunity for advancement (promotion)! Listed below you will find the job description of an HSO Professor and the specific subjects that are open:

Job Description
As a Hogwarts School Online Professor, you will be required to hold pre-planned lessons for groups of students in each of the seven years at Hogwarts. These lessons, as previously stated, will be planned out ahead of time, with specific topics per year being taught in repetition. Your job requires you to teach the material to the students (elaborating on facts, teaching them certain spells, asking them questions, holding discussions). You will also be required to award House Points to students who correctly answer questions (this is easily done from the student's post). Additionally you must assign and grade a homework assignment for each lesson you teach (also pre-determined).

Hogwarts classes run on certain days of the week and are different for each year of Hogwarts student. Much like at the actual Hogwarts, you will be required to hold class on, for example, Mondays and Wednesdays for first years, twice on Tuesdays for second years, and so on. Each professor has a unique schedule. There is no set time, but the lessons must take place on the pre-determined days.

Applicants seeking employment in Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Divination, and Muggle Studies should note that these classes will not be in session until a student reaches third year.

Also, please note that during this period while HSO is closed due to renovations, we are looking for candidates that are willing to help out with completing various tasks assigned to them. You will not begin your teaching until the site is open, but you will be asked to work on teaching-related assignments in the meantime.

Available Positions
+ Astronomy
+ Divination
+ History of Magic
+ Transfiguration

We are also seeking individuals to fill basic moderator positions, known on HSO as Keeper of Keys and Caretaker. Find job descriptions for these positions below.

Job Description
Keeper of Keys
The Keeper of Keys is in charge of the Grounds at Hogwarts. General responsibilities include: moderating all Hogwarts Grounds forums (excluding the Herbology classroom), enforcing all site-wide rules and appropriately punishing rule breakers and reporting the cases to the staff lounge. You may also be in charge of occasionally roleplaying the shopkeeper of a shop, which includes interacting with users and answering any questions. You are also required to keep all threads within the Grounds forums (excluding the Herbology classroom) within limits and making sure all rules are readily acceptable and understood.

Caretaker
As Caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, your responsibilities will include: moderating all Hogwarts castle forums (excluding the grounds), enforcing all site-wide rules and appropriately punishing rule breakers and reporting the cases to the staff lounge. You may also be in charge of occasionally roleplaying the shopkeeper of a shop, which includes interacting with users and answering any questions. You are also required to keep all threads in regular castle forums (excluding classrooms, common rooms and the grounds) within limits and making sure all rules are readily acceptable and understood.

To apply for any of the above positions or if you have any questions, please e-mail staff.hso@gmail.com. You may also post here with questions concerning the application process, job responsibilities, et cetera and a Head Staff member will be more than happy to assist you.

And don't forget to check out our HSO Preview Blog, where we reveal exclusive sneak-peaks at the images and content that make HSO so exciting! It's updated periodically, so be sure to bookmark it and check back often!

No other free Harry Potter website offers the same features as Hogwarts School Online. Interactivity is our first priority and we need you to help us make the magic happen.

Best regards,

The HSO Head Staff
