Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
Lol, thanks, it's one of my favorites. I just checked Freeform's web site and it doesn't appear to have any HP coming up in December so I wonder if that was the last marathon or if they'll sneak in one more before they turn it over to HBO.

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
That's a good point. I'm still hoping for the last week of December for one more. I don't see anything in the 25 days of xmas either. The first HBO marathon is new year's day @ 9am, all 8 back to back w/no break ending at 4:44 am the next day, (followed by Fantastic Beasts). If Freeform did that it would run another 7 + hours. HBO has put it on their streaming and on-demand platforms for all 8 beginning on Jan 1 as well, so for me it will be more of a Potter orgy than a marathon. Can you say orgy here?

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
I keep checking Zap2it and still no Harry. I think we've seen our last marathon on Freeform. Hope everyone enjoys the New Year's one on HBO.

They're taking their time posting the schedule...they just started the 31st. Guess they're playing it to the very end of year and getting all they can

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
And another fine schedule it is, Brattyc. I would expect this thread to go quiet for 6 months and then wake up again in July.

It's only 35 minutes into "Movie Night w/ Karlie Kloss" and I'm already convinced that super models should be seen and not heard.

Yes, I have. All day yesterday, even some this morning on the west coast channel.

What was the movie like compared with what was shown on Freeform?

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
Better. No commercials of course, but also no popups, not even a logo in the corner. Plus the quality of the image is better, richer texture w/ better color. Also you get the full credits with that great music they always have, usually 8-10 minutes worth. The biggest change is the improved pacing due to the lack of ads. Half Blood Prince for example is nearly a full hour shorter, more if you skip the credits. I loved what ABC Family did with the films, adding the deleted scenes in context, don't get me wrong, but the HBO experience is superior, especially now that they're all on their on-demand and streaming platforms as well.

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
I got my nine year old nephew the first HP movie for Christmas. (He's seen the Freeform version, which he recorded, but I thought he should have the official movie without the extras and commercials.) He's also currently on chapter 7 of the first book.

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
This show is on now til 9:30pm EDT on my system. Harry Potter: A History of Magic Update: Worth a look. Some interesting bits here and there (Arthur Weasley w/ white hair!). JKR does some talking head stuff that's the best part(s). IMDB score is 7.5 which seems about right.

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
Looks like the Wizarding Weekends will be here soon. Syfy and USA will start at the beginning on Friday, July 13th at 8 (they didn't say am or pm) and will run through all 8 movies til Monday July 16th. I'll do some checking on both channels to get the exact schedules and post them when I get the final one

Re: ABC Family's Versions of the HP movies
That's a good find, Brattyc. As far as extended versions, I posted this link 2 years ago when the deal was announced: http://www.mugglenet.com/2016/08/fan...ersal-orlando/ which mentions "extended director’s cut of the first two Harry Potter films". You see the words extended and director's cut in other places as well. https://thefairypage.blogspot.com/20...1_archive.html - "Part of what makes Freeform’s special Harry Potter events so special is that they air editions of the movies that can’t be seen anywhere else. Warner Bros. only released director’s cut editions of the first two movies, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” on home video. None of the other six films in the series got director’s cuts. Freeform presented special editions of all eight movies with deleted scenes seamlessly edited into the films." So maybe that means just the first 2, guess we'll find out next month.
