Interesting thought; but in my view it would just be another case of Snape projecting blame away from himself and toward an innocent kid. Snape never really thought about the consequences of passing the information along to Voldemort -- and I think it's debatable whether he gave it even a passing thought before acting.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff...

....I miss David Tennant....
