I think the books go by a wizarding calender where days are different. The wizarding world probably has it's own calender that is similar to ours but also vastly different in terms of specific dates. They'd still use months and weeks but the days could be different.

It only mentions it's a Tuesday in the first chapter of PS/SS. Perhaps to the muggle world, it was a different date but it was November 1 by Wizarding world reckoning.
