Albus S. Potter - Slytherin or Gryffindor?
So, Albus Severus Potter was scared of going into Slytherin because he didn't want to displease his family. I happen to think that he will be in Slytherin.

Albus Severus Potter initials spell ASP, which is a type of snake; personally, I'd love it if he did and become best friends with Scorpius.

What do you think?

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I can definately see a million fan fics sprouting from this one. I wonder if Jo is planning on picking up where she left off with this one. It seems that the Epilogue is introducing this new character more than telling us what happened to the characters we know and love.

Love the talk Harry has with him right before he goes onto the train. But, I defiantely think there is a lot left open in this epilogue...

I think that a friendship between Scorpius and Albus would be very interesting to see...

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I think Albus Severus will be in Gryf. like the entire family. His worries were to show that Harry was at peace with the idea himself--the fact that he could've been in Slytherin is now OK to Harry.

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I kind of hope that Albus Severus will bein Slytherin. It would be the ultimate proof that competition between houses was more friendly than hostile.
Guess we'll never actually find out....

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I think he'll be in Gryf. Albus was so set on not being in Slyth, and as we've already seen, if someone doesn't want to be in a house, the hat won't put you there.

I thought it was all to show how much Harry respected Snape and Slytherin after all. He named his son after him, after all.

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I still can't believe that Harry named his son after Snape. I mean, ok, it turned out that Snape was on the good side, and in love with Lily, but still. So many years he treated Harry like scum, has been unfair to him, and let's face it, no matter all the regret he felt, he still WAS the one who told Voldemort about the prophecy, and the reason Harry's parents are dead. Did Harry really forget it all, excuse everything Snape did to him? I don't know, but I thought that was a bit bizzare.

I quite like little Al though. He seems much like Harry in character, just as James seems like James, and Lily as Ginny. I really wish JKR would write a story about them. It doesn't have to be the series, and it doesn't have to be dark, just a few little short stories about their everyday life, to see how they interact, where they live, what Harry and Ginny do etc..

Re: Albus Severus Potter
but why do people still hate Slytherin? there are no DE for 19 years now, so all the houses of Hogwarts are good! but anyway, I just love what Harry said to him about Snape. I can read that line over and over and over again; that's what I'm doing these past three days.

Re: Albus Severus Potter
Albus should be in Gryffindor, he doesnt want to be in Slytherin, so the Hat should out him where he wants.

Albus Severus Potter?
Ok, despite the ridiculous name, do you think that Harry's son will ever be as great as his father? I know Jo has said that she does not think she will write on Harry/ the wizard world again (she has not ruled it out, mind), would you want to see a book on Harry's son? I think it wouldn't be very good, and to similar to the HP series, but what do you think?

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I think Al will go to Gryffindor, if for no other reason than that's what he wants. Also, I think that all three kids will have inherited the kind of innate bravery that helps define their parents. We can't assume that Al isn't brave enough because of his fears about Hogwarts, since Harry experienced similar fears when he first arrived there. Of course, as Harry says, being brave doesn't mean you can't still end up in Slytherin, but still....I see a lion in Al, and in Lily too. I see bravery as something that will continue to define the Potter family - their characters - for some time to come. And I like that. I would say the same about the Weasleys, too. Besides, Albus being in Gryffindor doesn't mean that he and Scorpius have to repeat their fathers' rivalry. For all we know, they could end up being as close as Snape and Lily were. And for all we know, Scorpius could be a Gryffindor! (I say fat chance to that, but you never know...)

Re: Albus Severus Potter?
I'd like to see some more fiction writing from JK, just not of her son, it'll be a bit like 'same old, same old'. Unless they tore down the castle and rebuilt it since the battle in DH.

Yeah, I agree but I wonder if she can create something as great and deep ever again. She said herself that she could never create something as popular again, but then, who knows.

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I look forward to reading all the wonderful fanfiction on this subject :P And not to mention the Teddy ones.

I think he'll be in Gryffindor too. Just like with Harry, he didn't want to be in Slytherin so he won't.

Re: Albus Severus Potter?
I'm not so sure a new BOOK would be good because like they said same old same old.
And what would be the grand adventure this time. The evil guy's dead. No new dark lords please. I don't think my heart can take it.
I think if anything more is written of Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Draco's children it will only be in the realm of fan fiction.

Re: Albus Severus Potter
Really great disappointment about that name... couldn't Rowling made another nice name? it was really a anti-climax

Re: Albus Severus Potter?
A whole new series would be nice though, just as long as it doesn't end up like a Harry Potter in a different environment, otherwise there would be no point. It would be great if she could write a huge series next, like the discworld series by Terry Pratchett

tinyniel July 24th, 2007 4:27 pm

Re: Albus Severus Potter
The name was a bit of a mouthful, yeah. And it might've looked better the other way around, Severus Albus... but that's just me. I have an odd thing with names

Re: Albus Severus Potter
I believe that the epilogue focused around Albus Severus's anxiety surrounding being in Slytherin to show that Harry had grown past his hatred of Slytherin and Snape. Ron's mention of Draco and Scorpius shows that he is not as forgiving, which also emphasizes how incredible Harry really is. He was able to look past Snape's facade once he realized who he really was and embraced the good in Snape. Just like the Invisibility Cloak, Harry's incredible personality is taken for granted because he is the main character. He really is special, and that's why he was able to defeat Tom Riddle.
